Shotgun shells

My wife says I don't get out enough. But I wanted to check and see what is going on. Usually around Thanksgiving, I get with some family members to kill clay pigeons. We have gone through 5 cases of these taste-less birds over the holidays before. I picked up a box of them today at Wally World and thought I would stock up on shells. I admit, I missed the shooting last year, so I have not purchased shotshells for two years. I was very surprised to see the usual brands going for $7-8 a box, (25 shells) (#8 shot). What has happened? I know 2 years ago they were half of that price. JC

How come you guys get everything so cheap ? I paid $17.95 for the same thing last week and thought that was OK .

China is an emerging economy and as you may know have quit buying up all the scrap metal because the price has dropped, They are now buying up all the shotgun shells to drive up the price here.

What happened? Two things. Metal prices keep going up and there was a certain winner in certain elections in certain country and that winner has certain ideas considering certain tools certain people among us use.

I hope I will not get reported or zapped. I tried to use the most PC language I know.

Gimme a break. Now there's an interpretation that represents a stretch....no one has said anything about shotguns, which is the topic at hand.

I've reloaded my target shells for years and haven't kept up with market prices for new ones, but Dick's Sporting Goods has Game/Target loads for either 12 or 20 ga on sale for $4/box.

My first reaction is that seems kind of low for a regular box, but I don't know for sure.

Last time I was at that store it was to buy 9mm and .38 special reloads so I just walked right past the shotgun and rifle shells.

I agree with the poster above, I can find $4 boxes of target loads at most stores. Upland shells that are "higher brass" are going for $7 a box. Steel is going for 15-18... and my 10 guage shells are close to 30 a box....

You have to pay (alot more these days) to play....

tis the season for most hunting begins thus get out there and shoot stuff. (clay pigeons are just fine)

I agree , and if you feel the need to kill something , theres plenty of feral cats , dogs , goats , foxes and pigs that are destroying the enviroment to shoot at . My heart sinks when i see a picture of a hunter with a high powered rifle and a scope with his foot on a deer or a bear etc .

Supply and demand. Demand is high right now as many have heard after Jan. 20 there will be a hugh ammunition tax imposed.
