So he went in to buy a cut with a HST and left with a 85 hp shuttle shift tractor:eek:? Some sales talk that was.:confused:

I wanted a bigger one in the first place but wanted the HST for all of the loader work. So it wasn't too hard to convince me to go to the shuttle (not needing the clutch). Wasn't aware they don't even make that shuttle in the 85. Only the 105.

I believe the 2555, at 55 hp, is the highest horsepower model available with HST.

It better. That's why I picked mine! :)

That's the one I originally went to look at and wanted to buy.

No problem Moss. I originally settled on a smaller unit w the HST. After several conversations with the salesman I upgraded to the larger unit based on his recommendation over the phone and he immediately put in the back and started working on the third function valve, so I never got to drive it.

Bummer. Hope it works out for you. :thumbsup:

The dealer won't just take it back and get you into a HST machine?

Under the circumstances I think the dealer needs to first and foremost get you into an HST and resell your "new" MPower machine as a low hour demo. I further think Mahindra corporate could and should provide a little assistance ($$$) to help get this done.

As mentioned, synchronized shuttle and hydraulic shuttle are indeed two very different things. Understanding Tractor Transmissions - YouTube

We have a Kubota M8540 with hydraulic shuttle and it's the next best thing to an HST for loader work. I don't know of any tractor over 60HP with HST.

I love my L5740HSTC, but bought the M8540 first and if I could only have one, it would be the M8540HDC.

I sure hope you can get a satisfactory resolution to your issue.

This is a great example of sales departments crapping out on there training or lack of. I have the same problem here. Remember its SELL,SELL,SELL. They don't worry about how to operate the tractor or what in can or can not do.If you people could only see the Mahindra dealer portal you would be amazed at how much is put into selling and how little is put into dealer tech support. :mad:

Sorry this has happen, hopefully, others reading this will learn a lesson.

Here's one we are learning this month! At work, we have a new $135k planter that does NOT do what the salesman told us it would do... We did not get it in writing (what we were told it could do), salesman was "let go" and the we have no recourse and the builder sold us what we had asked for, so he's not on the hook to make it right.

Regardless, NEVER trust a salesman and get everything in writing. Buyer beware....

Actually, you violated the prime directive in tractor purchasing--drive before buy.

Can't believe anyone would drop $55K on a machine without at least 30 minutes of seat time before purchase, especially since this was your first tractor purchase. And if FEL work was a big issue, I would have made sure that the test drive included that kind of operation so I could get the feel for the shifting peculiarities of the tractor.

That's what I did when I bought my first tractor--a 2005 Kubota B5710 HST that had a hydrostatic tranny. The sales guy showed me how to operate the tractor for FEL work and then I tried it out for 10 minutes or so on his parking lot. When he delivered the tractor, he spent a half hour instructing me how to use the FEL to move a pile of gravel I had laying around on my place.

Maybe the sales guy was deceptive, poorly trained or just plain stupid. But it's on you to do the due diligence before you buy.

My guess is that in the case of car and truck purchases, you test drive before you buy.

Full disclosure: I owned a 2008 Mahindra 5525 tractor (55 hp engine) for 7 years. Did a fair amount of FEL work with that tractor, which has a simple partially synchronized, bare bones transmission. Clutching between forward and reverse was never an issue for me. It took 10 minutes to get used to that tractor's peculiarities. But that's just me.

Sorry you got the wrong tractor for your uses. Seems the salesman messed things up, and you did too by not trying before buying.
If the dealer wants you as a satisfied customer and not just another sale on the books, it seems it would be in both your best interests for them to sell you what you wanted. However it seems that your chosen brand doesn't have a no clutching trans available in your HP range, correct?
If the above is the case, you would have to go to a different brand to meet your specs.

On something as basic as loader use and shifting necessity I would hope even the least trained sales staff would be able to grasp the basic concepts without misleading buyers; seems to not be the case in this instance.

I'm curious:

Did you buy this unit from a salesperson OR the ACTUAL OWNER of your Mahindra dealership? If the dealership owner was your salesperson I would expect a higher level of product knowledge and a more cooperative problem solving approach to your dilemma.

That unit absolutely requires clutching. It's just a regular synchro shuttle, not a power shuttle. I really don't think you will find the clutch work horrible with the synchro, but that's your call. You were certainly informed wrong, but on the other hand, had you driven it, you would have figured this all out. Tough situation for sure... and a dang nice tractor.

so a year later....any updates? I am somewhat interested in purchasing an MPower 85, just because some of the HST CUT tractors I've been looking at are priced similar.
