I do appreciate the time that folks like you - hydraulic specialists, dealers, service techs etc. spend answering questions and contributing to this forum.

You are quite welcome. I have always felt that passing along knowledge is just something people should do. I wouldn't know what I do without people in the past that have helped me. I am also involved in an activity where it is our duty to pass the knowledge on to those willing to learn. So it kind of comes natural to me.

WCH,
I also appreciate your expertise.(along with many others on this board) People that know what they are talking about and are willing to share it are getting harder to find every day. Speaking of helping others, how is the 2 to 3 pt lift conversion going? Surely somebody has you straightened out on that by now?

I forget who, I think it was Soundguy, that sent me a link to a supplier. I'm going to pull the tractor in my shop in a couple weeks, order the kit, and hopefully have it installed by Christmas. This is the great part about TBN, one hand washes the other.

I guess I use them both, and depending on the circumstances, either can be what we currently term "best value"

I definetely see the difference between the hoses I get at my local RK, vs the local hyd hose places. And I especially like that the hose's from the hyd place have the "right" ends, and are the "exact" length, no muss, no fuss.

That said, when I break a hose Sat afternoon in the middle of a job, I like being able to run between RK and TSC (becasuse neither ever have all the fittings I need to adapt whatever particular hose I have) and get the equipment going again. And while the hose shop I deal with WOULD come in for me as a professional courtesy and make the hose up, I do not feel that would be reasonable.

I will also be one to say that I thoroughly enjoy that knowledgable folks, what we would call subject matter experts, take the time to share their knowledge on a board such as this.

So, I guess my summation would be, that sometimes one way is best value, and sometimes the other, and it is vastly dependent on timing and the situation that we find ourselves in at the moment.

WCH,
I would order the kit long before pulling it into the shop. Never know when things are going to be back ordered and you don't need a tractor sitting in your shop waiting on parts!

Gotta agree with that. Nothing gives murphy more incentive to throw a stumbling block at you then being in a time crunch... BTDT with a hyd spool pack once...

Everything is on hold. I have a house to build.

Now what did you go and do that for? I was hoping for some great pictures and a step by step editorial on the conversion.
Guess we will have to just have to settle for house pictures, which are great, but never as much fun as tractor conversions.

I would think that you would want to have the conversion done before starting the house, so you could use 3pt inplements to help around the house during construction. I know I could sure use mine during construction!

Priorities always get in the way, don't they?:)
In my case, I made all the conversions and additions to my tractor expecting to do a lot of house building prep work, and it has paid off handsomely. The time and cost was nothing compared to having it hired out. Now I get to use them for other stuff that pops up too. Like David suggests, if you have time Andy, I'd look into it.
