Westy, good advise here on this site with very few "jerks". For the most part, "jerks" get pushed off pretty quickly. (there were a bunch around, but they seem to have escaped back to their caves)
I can't even begin to tell you all the information I have pulled out of this site(thank you to all the smart people on this here site). Remember, you will see many opinions, but mine is almost always the best........ /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

About a year ago I was looking for a new tractor, looked at Kioti, Mahindra, Kubota, JD and Farm King. Money was an issue for me, I ended up with the Farm King, which is a Chinese tractor. I dont pretend to think mine is better, but I will tell you what I saw about the others.

JD and Kubota are simply top notch, the other brands do not compare, I wished I could have bought one. The Kioti was not the bargain it appeared to be, I would have much rather had the Mahindra, it was (IMO) better made with better fit and finish, and it was less expensive. The Kioti priced out higher than the Kubota and within spittin range of the Deere. On the JD and Kubota the control levers were smooth as silk, the gaps along the hood and body panels were equal and straight, just like a nice car. Kioti did have beefier looking everything than the Deere or Kubota, but it also looked pretty crude in comparison and really not much better than my Farm King but at a much higher price. Control levers on teh Kioti were also fairly rough, they didnt slide well and I noticed they also had a tendancy to stick a bit when I operated it. Granted I was operating it on a dealer lot so I don't have much experience but it was nice looking from 15' away but as I got closer and actually inspected it I didnt think the cost was close to justifed. Mahindra seemed to be much better in its finish, it is alos made in Korea. To be honest I dont know if hte Korean metal quality is up to the Japanese standards, but I suspect it is potmetal compared to quality alloy. Again, I bought something of even lesser grade, but given the choice, Id skip the brand and go to one of the others.

Ok, Wednesday and Thursday I shop. Friday I buy. I'm not spending 6 months on "research" I want a tractor now. What is equivalent to the CK30 in the JD, Kubota, Branson and Chinese tractors like Jinma and Kama. thanks

Hello Wetsy, perhaps you may want to ask about the Kioti Ck30 in the kioti room. There you will find folks who can answer any of your questions in regards to its performance or quality. There is no comparison between Kioti and the Chinese tractors. As others have said, the quality of the new Kiotis is as good as youll find today. I would recomend you try to test drive all the tractors your interested in at the 30hp level and see what fits you best. As far as the Ck30 goes , its a very capable and tough tractor... Good luck to you in your search...

You might want to listen to some folks that actually own the brands you're interested in. Go to the different forums and read what folks have to say about their rigs, that will give you a better idea of owners real world experience .

Well, album, I tried posting in the Kioti forum a few days ago asking the same questions I did when I started this thread and for some reason the thread was deleted. That's why I am posting in this forum. I guess I am in the right spot, I have not been deleted yet.

I am not settled on a certain brand, just the 30hp to 35hp range. I thought I would ask what would be equivalent to the Kioti CK30 in other brands so I would have a better idea at what models to look at. Since I am not set on a Kioti I think this general, non-brand specific forum will do for now. Thanks

I am going to give you some hard honest advise. Do with it what you please. You really should slow down and take time to do your research. I know that is not what you wanted to hear. Spending 2 days researching a tractor and buying one without truely digesting what your needs are and how the competition differs is just asking for trouble. A new tractor is similiar to a car. As soon as you drive it off the lot, don't expect to sell it without taking a substantial loss. Used tractors are another story.

If you really need a tractor immediately, I advise you to RENT one for a while. Take this time to research a little better and figure out the differences. IMHO, I don't think I could give you an equiv. to the CK30. Someone mentioned that they saved $4000k over a Kubota L3130. I am sorry, but that is just plain misleading. You can't call a CK30 and a L3130 an Apples to Apples comparison. They are similiar in some aspects, in other aspects there is no comparision.

I can tell you this... you really do get what you pay for. I am not saying the CK30 isn't a good machine. If your needs perfectly match the CK30, then it is a great buy and the L3130 would be overkill. However, if you have needs which can only be fulfilled by the L3130, then the CK30 would disappoint or maybe not even allow you to do what you want at all.

You have been warned. Call me a rude jerk if you want.. I am just looking out for your best interests. If you can't stand to wait, rent.

Not to be annoying, but have you tried the advance search options in the various forums?

It is easy to post, but if you have the time, the wealth of information is astounding on this site.

If your in the market, that quickly, I'd go to the dealers and spend some time driving in their lots. That will give you the warm and fuzzies about the machine, it may have an ergonomic feature, like a must have pedal placement, and may tell you something about the dealer.

Good luck in your purchase.

Westy, the folks that run this site do the deleting, evidently they felt the thread was becoming inflamitory and deleted it before the poo hit the fan. It's more a matter of what you post than where you post it. For some reason they've let this one run in spite of some questionable content from one poster. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif There are so many variables with tractors it's hard to get an apples to apples comparison, HP is only one, weight, PTO HP, Hydraulic flow, MMM availability, price, etc. are others. It depends on what you want to do with it and where you want to do it. I researched for almost a year before I narrowed my choices down.
