I know many aftermarket tuners will bump the factory governed engine speed up to 4400 rpm's, which is well above factory redline. I agree holding a low gear at redline does not feel very comfortable, but in this particular situation, with this combination, I don't think there is much possibility for engine damage by reving just to the redline. If there is one hill in particular that this happens on, which is the case with me, you might try turning off the tow haul mode right as you begin to decend the hill, which will many times greatly delay or eliminate the sudden downshift. I personaly just leave mine in tow haul the entire time I am towing.
