I pull a Woods 6' RFM with an old Kubota L245.
It is listed at 22 pto hp. I usually mow in 5th gear (1 hi).
I believe I could cover ground faster with more pto hp but it does a pretty good job.
I would think that your newer tractor would do better than my old one?
There may be a problem with the tractor or maybe the finish mower?

Before getting my L3130, I used (and still have) a massey 20 HP, and it did fine with a 6' finish mower and 5' rotary mower.

I'm running a 5' mower behind a Deere 790. I really need a 6 footer...the tractor has plenty of power for it...as your L2800 does.

I think your tractor has a problem. If your dealer has a dynometer..might be worth while.

Roy i am pulling a 5FT behind my B2400 with no problem, you should be able to pull a 6Ft with ease.

I recently found a good deal on a 72" Land Pride but was concerned my TC24 would have problems running it. I bought it anyway since it was at a price I didn't want to pass up. I've mowed with it three times and the TC24 (18.5hp pto) handled it just fine. My land is flat and I don't let it get very long but it sounded similar to yours, around 4"-5" not super lush. I'm in low with the pedal to the floor. Works great.

Like others, I pull a 5' Befco behind my B2400 (18.5 pto hp) on rolling/hilly terrain without any problems. I think it would probably handle a 6' easily as yours should. You have to keep the engine speed up about 2200 rpm or so (see mark on rpm gauge) with a hydostatic to get the 540 pto rpm needed for the mower to cut well and use the pedal to control the ground speed. It shouldn't be a problem in Low and Medium although flat out in High might be asking a bit much. If you can't do that, there's something wrong somewhere, either with the tractor or the mower.

I pulled a 4' brush hog with my B7500hst (PTO only 16HP). Cut down everything I asked without much trouble at all.

Just my opinion - you might be alot happier with more horses, I am. A good dealer is worth his weight. I have a great one.

I have this combination. 6 ft Bush hog brand mower with rear discharge and a L2800 HST and my tractor has 8 hrs. I do cut at a higher rpm than when I use my M5700, but it pulls and cuts just fine. I usually cut at 2000 rpm and full forward in low range. This is still below the 540 rpm pto speed, so I don't think it hard on the machine. No problems. John

I'm wanting to find out the same information. I bought a Kubota B9200HST 4x4 a couplke months ago. So far all I've used is the loader but wanting to get a bushhog and finish mower. The tractor is rated at 22.5hp and it drops down to 16hp at the pto. What would be a good size mower to use with it. My land is a little hilly but I may use it to cut grass at other places and want something that I can handle hills without to much problem. After reading on here when I was trying to decide if I wanted to buy it. I went on Ebay and found a owners manual and shop manual but waiting for them on get here

I usede to pull a 6foot Land Pride RFM with my B7800 23 Pto and I have some hills. Try another brand of RFM. Cheaper than buying another tractor.
