This is a Gif shot from 1990 the log is 20 inch 50 cm x 20 inch 50 cm
we made this hydralic firewood machine of old waste materials
it was the first of its kind with twin or tandem cylinders
normaly it is run with the lowest cylinder 5 t. 250 bar
3 sec. forvard 1 sec. return
with 2 cylinders it makes 10 t. and runs little slower
the 12 mm thin knife is made of Swedish hardex 400 steel and it has the strenght of 30 mm ordenary steel
the cylinders and pistons are all made of plast not stanless steel
and it is driven with ordenary water (water hydralics)
it has served us fore more than 20 years and is still going strong
and gess what the hydraul pump is ?

you can also clean the tracktor equipment with it
and we ad radiator antifreeze to the water in winter :thumbsup:

Has anyone ever thought to build one that will load while ur splitting. What u could do is make a shut that will ruin up and while u split more logs, the logs will push up the shut and fall in ur truck

Sure, I took a hay conveyor and converted it to move wood, sure makes a difference. Yesterday I split some 5ft hemlock with my setup. Took 6hrs to load my 3cord. Usually takes between 2 and 3hrs. That was the toughest splitting I have done to date. Knots up to 5inches and lots of them. At times the wood just mashed up when the knife hit the knots. Others sheared ok. Think I am done for the year with wood.

Will get them up for you. Have to take a few. What I did was take a couple sheets of one/eights steel plate and cut them one foot wide. With the four out of one sheet that took care of sixteen ft, then added the other four for the finish. What I did do was put three inch spacers along the top of the rail of the hay conveyor to give it a bit more vee. Then did the same across the bottom for reinforcement and did a rail along all the top with three/eights round stock to dull the edges and strengthen the run also. Will try to get the pics up for you soon.

I think I get the idea, but pix would be great - for the way I'll use it, I'm planning to use a variable angle support on a small trailer axle and a hand winch (to change the support angles) so each end can be at optimum height for easiest use... Steve

Please tell us more about this setup! I have thought about this and love the idea of using water and my pressure washer that just sits there rarely being used.
