I have used mine solo by parking it and climbing up with a ladder. It makes a much better work platform than a ladder.

I'm two ways on these. Love to have one, and having used the bucket as a "man" lift, but after having a hose blow on my FEL and it dropping so fast that it looked like i'd bungeed it to the ground, i'd be less likely to modify my FEL so that it didn't drop like a ton of bricks, to the ground, so less likely to use the FEL as a "man" lift.

This is why you don’t see manufacturers offering man lift platforms for the FEL. There is no safety if a hose breaks.

Some sort of steel U channel could be used as a prop on both main cylinders to prevent them from going down.

I too use an IBC cage with my forks. I use a ratchet strap around the top of the cage to keep it secure and I have 2 large spring clips rated at 750 lbs each attached to D rings on the fork backplate and hooking onto the cage.

Titan and others makes many models of forklift platforms. Some suitable for warehouse work, some more robust for the type of work I envision.

We had a bucket truck for awhile and handy for many of the same operations. Used, the lift part usually becomes a value reducing asset of the truck. Never sure if a blown hydraulic hose would drop you. See bucket lifts removed from trucks near the cost of near that of just a forklift basket. That type of equipment usually has a rigorous preventative maintenance schedule. A bucket lift mounted using the backhoe attachment frame to the tractor would be a interesting project.

Two people or ladder are the two options I have done with the tractor.

Checked locally and the availability of used IBC totes for $75 is out. Refurbished washed 330gallon was $160. One place 200miles away sold just cages for $40. Interesting they sold black bottle totes too that might be good for diesel storage.

Wife wanted to pick some apples. I put a couple 2”x 10” boards across the forks for her stand on and told her not to step on the ends of the boards where they extend past the width of the forks.....but for safety I did loop some baling twine around them so they’d only pop up a few inches if she did.
.....this reminds me, I really need to upgrade the life insurance policies.

Here's the cage I built before I bought a Genie articulating manlift.

The telehandler AND the Genie are gone now but I still have the man basket for my forklifts.

Seen those. Some models would even tilt for slightly uneven ground. $pendy

Picked up a heavy galvanized metal pallet at the scrap yard years ago. Corrugated top and bottom. Maybe a rubber stall mat could improve the floor. Been handy for moving heavy materials. Wrapping with a handrail and door an option.

I'm sure that I've posted this on another thread, but I made a man basket for the forklift with some scrap material I had around. About a 4 foot chunk of catwalk, some 1.375" toprail and part of one of those home gym things that someone had set out to the street for free.
