...when I let the clutch back out the front wheels came off of the ground.
Cary

Was this the result of a "grabbing clutch"? I have found the foot clutch on the M7040 has a tendency to suddenly engage when trying to feather it.

I believe it was in the 8-10 thousand range, Deer vs Kubota. My neighbors farm and also do tractor repair. They are long time Ford/New Holland fans. In fact they bleed blue. It was hard for them to say so, but they said Kubota was the way to go. Like I mentioned earlier, I didn't like the fact that many manufactures source from different countries. Engine from one country, transmission from another, etc.

GWDixon,

I actually let the clutch out rather quick and was running a little over 2k rpms brush hogging. Before the repair was done it didn't mater how you let the clutch out, it wasn't going to move right away anyway. I'm finding out now that letting out the clutch first and then using the shuttle works great if the RPMs are up. Now I have to figure out what "inching" the clutch is.

Thanks, everything so far is pointing to the Kubota. Some things I have not been impressed with has been the cab roofs as the one on my Case is much more robust. Of course if the thing doesn't run, all that doesn't matter. The new ones may be a little better, but my L5030 is pretty thin.

I should know if I am going to buy a new one this week.

TripleR,
I left out the main reason I went with Kubota, tractors are supposed to be orange. :D My other tractor is an Allis Chalmers. Good luck on your decision.

Got a quote on one yesterday and the salesman is going to come down to look at my trade in today.

My son and I drove the M8540 yesterday and really liked it; waiting on a trade-in quote.

Sounds like you like the tractor, I hope the trade works out. I put my box blade behind mine today to do some grading around the house that i am building. The tractor has such good pull now that It is set up right.

E/S, any news on yours?

Thanks, I spoke with Scott this afternoon and told him to start prepping the tractor as his quote on the trade in was almost to the dollar of what I had estimated. He is also going to sell a piece of equipment for us we no longer need, so it gets even better. We will go pay for it tomorrow and it should be delivered some time next week.

Cary,
I have been in touch with the Kubota regional service rep., Kubota appears to be anxious to resolve the issue. They are working with the dealer to set up the testing to find the problem.
I just wish this wasn't happening during the busy season ( fire season ).

Are we talking wild fire season? I moved from Arizona to Kentucky a little over a year ago. I lived in the NE part of the Phoenix Area and watched the mountains burn up a few years ago.

Yes,
I do a lot of fuels reduction work in my area. We are boarded by BLM on the North and West sides.
We have had several fires within 1/2 mile of the property several times over the last 15 years I have lived there.
Attached a couple of pic. of the last one a year ago.

i just got good news today, Kubota service tech is coming out Thursday to run tests to see what is wrong. I really would like to resolve this as I can only run for a little bit with out having problems in hot weather.

Was wondering how it was going. It sure is nice to have a working tractor. Keep us posted.

The dealers service tech. was out today, ran several tests on the hydraulic system. Found the system was up to pressure, but way low on flow.
The hydraulic pump was pulled and the end plate is severely scored.
Dealer is ordering the replacement pump and both relief valves, should be fixed by the end of next week.
The tech tells me that he cant tell why the plate is damaged, but with it repaired this will be a whole different beast. That will be a blast !

It will be interesting to see if the performance is equal to when you first got it or better. I now know that my machine was not right from day one.

I honestly think the performance will be better than when I first took delivery.
I also now know that mine wasn't right from the start. As much as I have done in-spite of this problem, I am really looking forward to having it work right.

The service tech came out a week ago, replaced the pump and adjusted both pressure regulators. The rear regulator was close, but the front was set at 3750 psi. at idle! Man did that new pump holler. He reset the reg. to 2750 psi at 2600 rpm, now the shuttle shift seems to be Ok.
After that we ran a flow test on the FEL 3rd function for my posthole digger, it turns slow and really heats up the hydraulic fluid. Found that the supply and pressure were OK, but there is 1600psi. back pressure on the return!
Now the dealer and Kubota are trying to figure out what to do. At least I think I am getting some ware.

How is yours working?

Mines been working great. I wonder if what's going on with yours had something to do with the pump getting tore up?
