Tractor
TYM T25 Foton TB504
2006 Foton 504.
Using it the other day and the shuttle shift started moving freely.
No forward or backward after. It has the hi/low shifter, a gear selector, and off
to the side the shuttle shift.

I had a peek under it today hoping it was a linkage dropped off but, noooo.

There is a short linkage attached to the side of the transmission, moving clockwise and counter cw toward the front
as you move the lever.
It seems it's inside. No access panel I can see and I'm guessing the cab has to come off (I have another thread about that.
Still haven't gotten around to it).

I have a bunch of diagrams but nothing showing anything like what I have.

Can someone help? Best would be an accurate diagram.
I DL'd a ton of them from an Australian site, but this one doesn't match mine.
Some diagrams do, but not the shuttle shift.

What are the chances that it be a simple roll pin broken where the lever goes on the shaft?

There is still a fairly good chance that it is a broken roll pin as the friction in the joint where the broken roll pin is will still move the lever on the side of the transmission to a certain extent. Just not far enough to actually engage forwards or reverse.
I have Jinma 254 which has a long quite involved linkage that involves a cable and several pivot points which has broken in a couple of different places over the years. If the 504 is anything like that it can be quite tricky to find the problem. I would suggest holding the lever on the side of the transmission stationery and then trying to move the lever at the steering wheel to check the linkage has no slippage. You'll probably need an assistant unless you've got incredibly long arms.:)

Thanks 254OZ but it sounds like your Jinma is different. I was curious about that because many things are the same between the two, and I often hear they are completely the same.

I also suspect there is a roll pin dropped out or similar but was hoping for a confirmed schematic before digging in (in the spring - too cold now).

Very possible. It's still a big job (cab off to access transmission etc).
Handy to have a diagram that I know for sure is for this vehicle.
It's a big ask.

What if you have and open station ? It looks like I have to remove the Plastic dash/cowl and Gauge cluster.....
anybody done this before , none of the Factory manuals have anything on the Shuttle mechanism.

The shuttle shift is not on the dash or near the steering wheel.
It is on the floor with the other 2 levers and goes through the side if the trans housing.

I'm going through this right now with a Trident 554.
Shuttle shift went sloppy and stopped shifting. On this tractor it is operated by a bowden cable like a bicycle brake or similar. The cable linkage runs down to the right side of the transmission case area.
I was hopeful for a broken roll pin but in this case it was a broken shift fork.
I had a floor access panel under the rubber mat flooring that was helpful though not directly over the shuttle shift fork.

It looks simple enough to repair but I do have some questions if anyone is familiar with this part.

Looks like the weld broke. Maybe you can figure out about where it should be based on the markings of the original welds. If so then weld it up and put it back in and adjust it. Doesn't look too bad to me. And it's not precision fit ! It's Chinesium !

Looks quite similar to my set up except I don't have a cable. It's a solid linkage or two from the shifter to the trans.
Your access looks similar too, although it's hard to tell on mine because the cab floor is limiting the view from underneath, and
there is pretty much no view from above. I took the seat out and I can see a little bit if I crank my head the right way.
I'm really hoping mine is not a broken shift fork. More than hoping.... I'm almost pleading.

Tridont, please keep us updated on the fix and final result.

The young lad next door came over to try and buy my broken tractor for parts. His dad has the same Foton 50hp but
a year older. I wouldn't sell it to him. I may be years getting mine fixed, and 5K was a good price considering I got
mine for free, but I'm not ready to part with it.
i ended up brokering a sale of my Foton's big brother, from the guy I got mine from. An 80hp that was sitting broken.
I simply called the owner and asked if I could sell it for him. Got the $6K he wanted. The kid got it running and drove it
the 20 miles home :)
Both me and the owner chuckled at the idea he got it that far with no issues. I happened to speak to the kid tonight
because he's looking at the 4wd on my Ford 150. He's well pleased with the tractor.

Sorry, I'm rambling.
