Dk4510
I noticed all of a sudden my dk4510 wasn’t slipping in to forward very easily. It’s like I couldnt actually push it far enough to get it to engage. Started looking around and found the the pictures below. Obviously there is a ton of play in the linkage right now, hope that’s the issue. What caused this to break like that? I mean seriously how? 300 hours on my tractor.
No warranty . Dealer said the skirt is 750 plus shipping and it will take 3-4 weeks to get it. I would have to do it myself too, can not pay for the labor on all that and the whole dash has to come out. Did a bent fork cause this? Any suggestions of cause and a simple fix ? Anyone seen this before?

For those of us who don't know, what is a dk4530?

Well you lost me. What I see circled in the photos looks like a broken piece of plastic. Regardless of the expense (or difficulty of replacement) I'm not seeing how that translates to a shuttle problem where one direction is hard to engage. Maybe you can clarify that a little.

Low on transmission fluid. Need clutch adjustment. Stuck in 4WD even though lever is disengaged. Slam shifted previously and now it's out of sync.

That's not plastic, as seen by the rust around and the parts welded to it.

If that shaft we see in the picture is a pivot point for the shuttle lever, I suspect it was welded to that cover. Over the time with use, it eventually cracked, now it's bent, out of place and most likely won't let you fully shift into gear.

Now, for it to break from what it seems metal fatigue from bending multiple times, caused by being under pressure pretty much all the time, which it shouldn't happen with all the linkages adjusted properly.

That is a metal shroud that goes all the way up behind the center console. This is the pivot point where the number 1 and number 2 rod attach to each other. the part that connects them is called "arm connecting" Part# is T5710-59001. Obviously it was welded. I can weld that crack and it will probably hold for a while but I need to figure out why it broke like that. I know bent shifter forks in this tractor is talked about alot in here. Is there something going on with the transmission that caused this ect ect.

Thanks for your insight. Transmission fluid has always been fine for me. I did buy it used with 150hours on it so I cant account for anything during that time. I do know it has always shifted extremely smooth. I am very confident 4wheel drive getting stuck isnt a issue. My little farm has a lot of big hills on it and its very obvious when I forget to put it in 4wd. Do you have any good resources for directions to check the clutch and then adjust if needed? If it was slam shifted and now out of synch, (not sure what that really means?) what's the fix? I am mechanically inclined enough to get myself into a lot of trouble lol. I am also living the dream so I don't have money laying around to just dump this on a tractor dealer. The only other issue I had was a bad leak and one of the shifter boots. I did let John Deere fix that. Could they have broken something in the process and it just now finally cracked all the way.... I will never know. Really appreciate your insight and time..

do you have any good info for a proper linkage adjustment? thanks for all your help

I'll have to check on the manuals I have once I get back home.

The lever should fall into all three detent positions without applying any pressure on the linkages once in position.
