sickle bar lifting

I have a Ford/New Holland model 451 7' sickle bar. was wondering if anybody has put a hydraulic lift cylinder on the bar itself. I am doing road side mowing and would like an easy way to lift cutter bar. Any help would be nice.

All sickle bar mowers will follow the contour (up or down or level) automatically. The manufacturer did not offer a kit as it is not needed. I could see where a cylinder would be handy to raise bar to miss a mailbox, however, I just swing out past the box and then right back in and keep mowing. A cyl can easily be added to to any mower and when you do that, you are going to sacrifice the maximum working range of the sickle bar. Ken Sweet
