9mm is not.
Scary thing is, a lot of places .380 ammo costs more than the other common calibers and there's not really a good reason for it.

I recently saw some .380 selling for $30/box of 50. It's crazy.

I have a fair amount of .380 brass and some golden saber 90gr bullets somewhere. Now I just need to find some small pistol primers:eek:

Primer supply is a whole other topic.:(

The ammo shortage is partly a result of the fear of a change in laws due to new administration (I hope this is not politically incorrect here :D). So....allot of people started hoarding ammo about a year or more ago. Also the 380 ammo got very popular when Ruger released the LCP.

And.....handgun sales have been very "brisk" in recent times.....to say the least. All of which have contributed to this shortage IMHO. With shortages.....the price always goes up. Also, the metal price spike of a year ago really drove brass and lead prices through the roof....prompting more speculation which also drove prices.

Primers got tight about a year ago. Several years ago.....after the last primer scare.......I bought enough primers to last me a long time. As has been said....you can make powder, bullets and get spent cases........but you cant make primers.

I suggest that you buy what you NEED now.....and when thing settle down again (let's hope) then buy some stock of ammo and components at more reasonable prices so that you have "enough" during times like this. IMO.....things are s l o w l y returning to a more normal situation regarding ammo and arms. :)

These sites are only good if your state allows mail order for ammo:

the-armory.com has 380ACP - 94 grain - full metal jacket from SERBIA for $28.99 for box of 50.

Also, the following usually has what you need:

Discount Hunting Gear, Discount Hunting Boots, Discount Shoes, Discount Ammunition, Discount Ammo, Discount Boots, Military Surplus, Outdoor Gear At the Sportsman's Guide

For 9mm I use AMMOMAN.COM d/b/a Discount Distributors

Then again Arizona does allow mail order where I couldn't do this in Massachusetts.

I have no connection with any of these sites and I'm sure there are other online sites that offer good deals.

I keep 10,000 rounds of various ammo in padlocked ammo cans in a locked closet with no children. Just like to be safe. All my pistols and rifles are kept in my gun safe other then the two my wife and I carry. My wife carries a 22 mag with snake shot for the first two rounds. I carry a detonics 45ACP.

The ammo situation went nuts after the election. People are buying up bulk .22 packs at WM and reselling them for more money. Lot of griping on other websites about ammo not being on the shelves.

I traded my 229 for a 239 DAK, wife carries a 232 and I find myself
packing that more often than my 239. Small hands.

Redrocker,
Have you tried a High Noon Holster- Bare Assets or Mr. Softy IWB holster for your 232? The Bare Assets and the Mr. Softy are basically the same holster, except one has a cant.

Apparently, these holsters get some pretty high reviews for comfort, they're also only about $25. Like anyone that has concealed carry, you end up with a wheelbarrow full of holsters, trying to find that perfect one. I think I'm going to try the Bare Asset.

I would think for many people the 239 would be a good choice, but it just seemed a bit small for my hands. The Sig holster for the 229 and the magazine pouch were ordered Monday, so should be here soon.

But to carry, I'll probably stay with my S&W Chief and the DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. I was surprised, but it really does work.

Did you shoot it yet? Let's see pictures of targets :D

Robert, I did go out to a public range and shoot a hundred rounds just to see that it works and to get the feel for it. To tell you the truth, I never even thought about pictures of targets, but if I had, I still wouldn't have made any.:D It certainly wasn't anything to brag about.:D The trouble with the public range is that you're restricted (and understandably so) to a specific distance from the targets, no rapid fire allowed, etc.

I also looked at the course of fire required for a CHL in Texas and it's just ridiculously simple compared to the course police officers, both active and retired, have to fire, not to mention the fact that for a CHL, you only have to score 70 or better on that simple course, while to qualify on the police course, a minimum of 80 is required.
