Well, I got that P229 broke in, shot it once on an outdoor public range, once each on two indoor ranges, and once on the police range before today for practice. Then this morning I shot it for qualifying and only shot 92.4 so I definitely need more practice. However, that's better than I did when I qualified with the .38 revolver in September. It seems that 9mm and .38 ammo are still in short supply in most places, although folks at one of the indoor ranges I visited talked like they never heard of any ammo shortage.
One day last week I was in a Cabela's and bought a couple of boxes of Blazer 9mm. I'd never seen any of that ammo with aluminum cases before. It's a little cheaper, but they had a limit of 2 boxes per customer. I shot one box of it and it seems OK to me. I understand some indoor ranges don't allow it because they sweep up and sell the brass and don't want to have to separate out the aluminum, but both of the indoor ranges I'm familiar with said they do NOT object to its use.
