Good morning, Don. Hope you and all the other TBNers down there are OK today.

"i wish someone would find the big magnet burried here and just switch the darn thing off."

That big magnet is quite visible, you just have to know what to look for. There are many of them. People live in them. They are typically rectangular. Some are single wide, some double and even triple wide. For their size they are really quite light. They are thin and weak.

(It's OK, I can make mobile home jokes because I live in one /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

I fear it's not a magnet, but the big heater in the Atlantic. Anybody have a switch for that? Good luck guys!

Don, Soundguy, and the rest of the Florida TBN chapter -

Here's what we are seeing on the news today.

Plus lots of pictures of damage on the ground.
It looks like mobile home parks in Port St Lucie were hit especially hard.

I'm back. This one was stronger than the last, but didn't last as long. We didn't get much more damage -- some rain driven trhough sealed up windows (!!) that soaked a carpet, a few more shingles off the roof, a couple of more panels out of the pool screen, some aluminum fascia and soffit blown off and the fence knocked down (again). Once again, the eye passed directly over us about 1:00 AM last Sunday.

We still don't have electricity, but the folks across the street from us got power today, and that was enough to turn the cable internet back on. I had the foresight to plug the cable modem into the generator, and was amazed to see it on about 9 PM this evening! We should get power back tomorrow, since they're obviously working in out neighborhood. Last time it was Canadian crews; I think this batch is from New Jersey. It will be nice to get AC and hot water back again.

There's some debate going on about whether insurance companies should charge a second deductible. On the one hand, I can see where they are entitled to a separate deductible for each storm. On the other hand, with a "normal" period of time between storms, we would have had enough time to make repairs, and the losses for the second storm would therefore have been much greater. In this case, there is only a small amount of incremental damage because the simple fact is that whatever was going to be lost was already lost the first time around. It doesn't seem fair that the insurance companies should use the deductible to completely escape all responsibility for damage the second time.

A brief health update: I went to the Univ of Miami's Jackson Hospital today for an initial interview with one of their leading cardiologists. He echoed all the other opinions that surgery is probably out of the question except for a transplant, and he's not ready to commit to that, yet. So, looks like I'll remain in limbo land for a while. He did adjust my medications and has scheduled a stress test in 6 weeks after I have built up a little more strength.

Glad to see you are back, Don. I have missed reading posts from you. I hope your health just keeps improving. Take it easy!

Electric power restored about 30 minutes ago. Cold AC! Yeehaw! Off to take a hot shower.... why can't air be normally chilled and water be normally hot?

PM me with their address or name so I can find the address, and I'll check their house for them, unless it's in one of the gated communities.
