The delivery trucks have all but shut the ends of my driveway culvert. I needed something to open the ends up so I could reinforce and extend with either cast iron or ceramic soil pipe. Found just the right tool - a 3 foot long 3/4" hanger rod from an old factory. With one end threaded and the other bent into an "L" it became a simple matter to attach to a 3 pt drawbar and hook the squashed end of the culvert. Raising the 3 pt opened it enough to get a floor jack inside and finish the job. Care must obviously be taken to stay out of the way when the end slips out but after a couple of tries we got the job done. Any other "simple" solutions to sometimes perplexing problems out there?

Yes, I found some old ceramic type drain "tiles" that are about 4' long and 8" in diameter. They were used to both reinforce and extent the ends of the existing culvert. With gravel on top distributing the force some they should prove more robust than the original galv steel culvert. That's the thought anyway
