AMEN!!!

What would you buy now, brand new and price not an issue?

Back in 1996, I purchased a 1997 Simplicity Sovereign 18 h.p. overhead cam. The reason I bought a Simplicity is that my farther in-law swore by them. He has had a couple of Simplicity tractors. Most recently a 17h.p.
1991 "7117" 17 h.p. He uses a 48"
deck that is from an older Simplicity tractor that he previously had. The mower deck is about 17 years old and still going.

With his strong recommendation I went to look one and bought it. This tractor has been really good, I mow about 2.5 acreas of grass. I have hydraulic lift which really comes in handy when tilling, and let me say that the 36" belt driven tillers does a fabulous job! I also have a push blade that I use around the yard.

This tractor is well built when compared to some of the competitors. The deep mower deck design works wonders, I have never clogged it up, and with the 18h.p. have always had enough power even in slightly wet conditions. One feature I wish I had was a liquid cooled engine, this would definitely help in really hot conditions and increase the engine life.

An excellent tractor for small yard maintance, I have never had any problems with my unit, I would definitely recommend a Simplicity to you!

Hey Derek just noticed this post now, sorry. To be honest with you I don't know what I'd spend my money on nowadays. They've got some nice stuff out there now, but I really don't think it's going to hold up like the older stuff did. I, personnaly would try to find an older JD 300 or Simplicity 7000 series, including digging up the attachments that went with it and spend the money fixing it up rather than buy new, but I'm kind of at an advantage with the experience I have with these machines and would'nt have to worry about labor$$$$. Top picks out of the two series would be the JD 318 or the Simplicity 7116 hydro. Maybe leaning toward the 318 due to the standard front hyd hook-ups. Availability is the only problem though, because most people that have these machines, know what they have and are'nt in a big hurry to give 'em up.

I own a Simplicty 3410. Neat tractor. Always reliable. Starts in the coldest weather with no problems. I have a 42" deck and a homemade snowplow. It works GREAT! I also own a Allis Chalmers 616 (Simplicity 4040). It needed some TLC and its a work in progress. I drove it around to use up all the summer blend gas so i could put winter blend gas in and adjust the carberator. I have a 72" deck and a little snowthrower for it. I love them both. Allis Chalmers 720 is the same as Simplicity 4041. The Simplicity's have a different style hoods. The 720 and 4041 have a 20hp engine instead of a 16hp engine.

I own 2 Simplicity tractors. I have a Cornet 13 hp with bagger for sale. A Simplicity Conquest replaced it when I went from 1 acre to 4 to cut. All I'll say is this "Nothing, I mean, Nothing cuts like a Simplicity. No, I don't work for them I work with them.....
