Red Horse, Sure did. When the dealer called Curtis, I was in his office and they told us that they weren't interested in making only one cab for the Boomer 3040 model. Sounds like they make multiple units in a single run and build stock for the fall. Engineering was working on which models they will offer this fall. I really didn't want to wait until Oct/Nov to get my tractor finished. I'm happy with the Dakota Cab from Sims.

Brewdog:

That is one nice looking cab. Please keep us updated on how well it works for you and your likes and dislikes.

B-dog- Just out of curiosity did you check out a Curtiss Cab as well? If so what made you go for the Sims?

Before I found TBN, I ordered a Curtis Cab for my 4200 years ago as I thought they were only game around. It was poorly packaged and arrived all beat to he!!. I ended up sending it back on Curtis' dime.

The Curtis cab comes in pieces that needs to be assembled, and uses the existing ROPS that means the cab is smaller since it goes in front of the ROPS.

Curtis is lower priced for a reason.

I've heard good things about Jodale-Perry and Laurin; but have only seen pictures of them, primarily on their websites.

MJNCAD,

Thanks for the tips on Jodale-Perry and Laurin. I've not heard of them before so I'll make sure to check them out. Sorry to hear about your experience with Curtis. That is extremely frustrating and wears on a person.

I'll post some better photos soon. I took those with my iphone camera so the quality isn't real good. You're right, my cab fits over the ROPS bars making it very spacious. I just can't believe how much room there is in it. I've got to drive around the property checking the low hanging limbs for mowing clearance. No doubt, I'll be trimming trees.

I should say you are excited. That's one of the nicest cabs I've seen! Look how it adds to the tractor. You would think it was born with it :D

Oh ya. I got projects on the go. Two actually going on at one time :confused2: The wife says I'm a dog for punishment and I'm starting to believe her :laughing:Keep watching. I'll post them when there done ;)

You're welcome Brewdog. After seeing your Sims cab I went back out to their site since I hadn't been there in a while. I noticed they updated their site, and I was surprised to see I can still get a cab for my 4200. I'm just still coughing on the price as it's comparable to Jodale-Perry.

I did notice they had a Yukon cab that is similar to the Curtis in design and with a comparable price. I think you made the right choice with the Dakota.

Based on your screen name I assume you brew your own beer.

mjncad,

I believe the satisfaction of quality lasts far longer than the pain of the higher price. At least that helps me justify it in my own mind. The pain's almost gone but not quite. Just kidding.

Interesting, I was able to purchase this cab for less than I could buy it direct from them. Having a good dealer really helped. Good to hear you feel the Dakota was the correct choice.

Oh yes, about me brewing beer, I have never brewed beer, but I sure do enjoy a nice cold 22 ounce draft on a hot summer day after my work is done! Brewdog has been a nickname of mine for many years. My last name is Brewster and the nickname stuck to me like glue. Mind you, I have been called much worse over the years, so Brewdog is not so bad. Thanks!

I agree with you completely on the quality issue. There are a number of Sims dealers near me according to their website. Maybe, just maybe I'll get a price quote sometime. I really look forward to hearing how you like it for day to day use.

If I were you I'd rather be called Brewdog too than Punky Brewster. :D Like you I've been called much worse too over the years.

Yeah, I like my beer too...and my Scotch...and my wine; just not all at the same time.

Very nice - looks like it grew there!

This is good to read - I've noodled on this issue also. In going through and pricing a SIMS cab on the website for my Kubota L3130, I come up with about $6k with heat, wipers - what I consider the basics, or close to $10k w/AC. Then I look at picking up a different used cab Kubota and I find maybe a $10k gap from cab to open station. Especially since mine is the smallest of the L-series engines, I start thinking if I wanted to add a cab, it might make more sense to just find a cabbed one with a bigger engine like a 3830 or something in that 38-45 hp range. Did you consider that approach at all? Just curious to learn from others that have gone this route.
