Very nice - looks like it grew there!

This is good to read - I've noodled on this issue also. In going through and pricing a SIMS cab on the website for my Kubota L3130, I come up with about $6k with heat, wipers - what I consider the basics, or close to $10k w/AC. Then I look at picking up a different used cab Kubota and I find maybe a $10k gap from cab to open station. Especially since mine is the smallest of the L-series engines, I start thinking if I wanted to add a cab, it might make more sense to just find a cabbed one with a bigger engine like a 3830 or something in that 38-45 hp range. Did you consider that approach at all? Just curious to learn from others that have gone this route.

Interesting that you would say that. I did consider looking for a 3040 Cab model. I found two, but both had the Air Conditioning and the CVT transmission, and I preferred the Hydro after driving the new 8N with the CVT. I could get used to the CVT, but I didn't like the lever to pull for reverse. I prefer the Forward/Backward pedals on the floor. The CVT up-charge was considerable, around 6-7K on top of the Cab adder. The dealer was offering me a very fair trade as well.

In your case, it might be the better option. I also looked at the MX5100 and found it to be a very nice machine. I didn't need 50 HP diesel and I really didn't want to pay for all the fuel that engine uses just for daily tinkering around. I settled for the 40HP - 4 cylinder NH.

Good luck, with the 0%-60 months that is still being offered, you might be able to trade up for a fair price and get the one you'd really like.

SIMS is real proud of their AC units as I about choked when I saw what they want for one.

I often wonder if an AC unit from a SMART car could be adapted as the cabin volume is probably similar and neither vehicle type has an abundance of HP.

Looks like I'm 14 years late replying to you. At the time, the Tractor dealer represented Sims Cabs and gave me a good deal with free installation as part of the tractor purchase. Not sorry with my choice, 14 years later it looks almost like the day it was delivered to the dealer.

I really like that Boomer! I still want a 3040/3045/3050 but every one I find for sale is completely trashed. And the cab models I have found that look nice on the outside are a mess inside with water staining all over the headliners.

I tried to buy one back when they were new but no NH dealer around here seemed interested in selling me one.

Ya, I'm not real crazy about the new LS built units.

If you ever think of adding in AC, there are more aftermarket kits than ever before.

This one doesn't even need to run a compressor off the engine. (y)

Hey bmaverick, thanks for the information. I had no idea these units were out there. I’m going to look into one for my NH3040. Excellent idea! Thanks.
