I agree, probably cost is a factor, although it would be far easier to line the blower when it's made. The chute was done first, as that's what would clog first and it all but completely eliminated clogs there. I did the rest for improved performance - there's less friction and no wear to the impeller housing.

Note that when lining the housing, you must account for the difference in the thermal coefficient of expansion between the polymer and steel. Mine is attached at the "leading edge" of the impeller housing (where the blades "enter" the housing, with a sharp bend in the plastic (heat formed) and then two screws to fix it in place. The remainder of the liner is free floating until the very end, where the snow enters the chute - there there's a slot in the plastic and a machine screw with washer holding the plastic in place so the liner can change length with temperature. (I measured length delta at room temp and after putting in my hot tub - something like 1/4" IIRC, in any case it must be considered in the design.

There is a lot more info on my mods in this thread: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/345899-b2782-snow-blower-modifying.html

Do you happen to know if any offer the spray-on as option? (Or standard?)
I have never seen it offered for snow throwers. I have seen that application used in a heavy industrial setting for coating steel chutes for wood chips.

Looks like it's only the back of the chute, but WoodMaxx appears to be.

72" Snow Blower, Tractor Snow Blower, Hydraulic Chute Rotation - WoodMaxx

HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE DISCHARGE CHUTE LINER*

WoodMaxx™ SB-series snow blowers utilize a high-density polyethylene chute liner to keep the snow moving and prevent snow from freezing on and plugging the discharge chute. This liner also provides a very slick surface for the snow to deflect off of, ultimately increasing the speed and distance at which snow is thrown out of the chute.*

That's a smart way to differentiate their product. There are so many blowers that are similar.

But, high density polyethylene is no nearly as good (mechanically strong, slick etc) as UHMW . . . but it is a whole lot cheaper.

UHMW is almost as slippery as Teflon (PTFE) and far stronger - it's the strongest long chain polymer available, in some applications, such as with aggregate, were's better than steel. 1" thick will stop a 45 round at point blank range (I have not tried this and am most unlikely to do so with me behind the plastic).

Some of the woodworking supply places (PeachTree on Amazon) are good sources as it makes ideal liners for table saw fences and any spot where abrasion resistance and low friction are desired.

On the pics in the "other thread" mentioned earlier, shows the UHMW skids that just finished their 3rd season - - they've lost about 1/8" I think, starting with 3/4" thick.

Hello FatTire,

Easy slide graphite paint is sold at tractor supply, snow "Plow Slick" is a one time seasonal coating, gator glide, wet lander, MIT's liquiglide, are others.
