Size of Fertilizer

Bought a new 3pt spreader the other day at it has the settings listed by large, med, small granular fertilizer . Big difference in the setting per size..

My question is what size is 15-15-15 co-op brand???? Never seen it listed by size??

Thats a new one on me too! I use 10-10-10 for most applications and also pelltized lime.

Pelletized lime in my opinion is "small" granules maybe .080" and 10-10-10 is medium granule size .100 to .125". Then you have specialty treatments like for Grubs that are a very small granule about .050".

I would experiment with small and medium settings personally.

The other question is what does this regulate? The opening for the spreader?

Is that what is in the book or on the unit itself on the control mechanism? Usually it has numbers on the spreader up to 7 or 8.

15-15-15 is granular fertilizer. Just like triple 13 or 19.

You are looking at about 300# per acre at setting 4 at 5mph if I recall correctly.

Small, medium and larger generally refers to seed size.

both the book and on the spreader.. It has --example setting 2 at 4.5mph is about 110lb ac.. that is with medium size.. With small - same setting is about 320lb per ac.... I am going to test first but just have never seen a size chart for fertilzer?

Set the opening at about 1/3 open, do 5 mph and let it rip. That's what I'd do. You could start with 50# and see if that spreads like you want it.
