Hey there, is that in santa cruz mts? Do you know of any one with a mill? I have a tree down and limbed, A live oak with a 40ft straight section that I have a hard time just cutting or bucking up for firewood. seems it'd be more valuable as a beam, or two.
Yeah, I am in the Santa Cuz Mtns. You, too?
That's a big tree, and heavier than DF, you bet.
I know a guy with a tow-behind bandsaw mill, but I don't really see the
economics working out for just one log, and a heavy one at that. He has
to get paid, and you will also need a way to lift/load into the mill. Tractor!
The big DF tree in this thread is now gone. It was removed the hard
way by a neighbor who cut/split it for firewood. Since he only has a small
chainsaw, he cut as deep as he could, then split off chunks with
hammer and wedge. It took about 6 months.
