Are you saying the Wallenstein is the only brand with loops???

How about a trailer hitch?? That is a VERY important option...

How about being able to winch from any angle?? That's an absolute MUST...

Many times the cheapest price doesn't end up being the cheapest...

You put up the picture of a wally winch with saw loops, I just followed up on the suggestion to see what models offered the feature. the units matched to my needs do not appear to be fitted with loops. I'm not informed about other manufacturers offerings in the same class . Saw Loops don't seem to be standard for 6-7000 # pull units. Perhaps it is a price point market. I can't see buying a unit so far over my needs to get a couple of bent metal loops welded on.
A trailer hitch is not so important to my uses. Heck, most places I can hardly get the tractor in, much less a trailer. But welding on a 2 inch receiver tube is what? A rainy afternoon's work and $50 worth of steel? No biggy. enjoyable work really.

I've not seen a logging winch that doesn't provide for angle pulls. Please advise.

The post was /is not about "cheapest", it was /is entirely about the features of "high pull, and other design differences between the 3001 series and the 3501 series winches. Those two models are "built differently from one another". Comments regarding the folding base and clearance are something I take interest in. I know both styles provide useful service to many owners.
Your particular preferences are very informative. When I look at the pictures you post of your unit at work, I see a huge disparity in terrain and application. in comparison with my situation.

Many times, the best choice for another isn't the best choice for you.

"Loops" are metal loops that will hold chainsaws...

I NEVER buy new tools, to have to "finish" building them. At least not when there's already brands on the market that have the right features in the first place...

In the pict., I have the winch about 1/3 as high as it will go with the three point all the way up...

Looks like a nice winch, I'll have to check it out sometime. You have the winch 1/3 high, but the the 3 point is all the way up, something don't make sence. When my 3PH is all the way up, my winch is all the way up, that = 3/3 up.

Never heard a chainsaw holder called a chainsaw loop, but man you ought to put the chainsaw holder on the inside of the winch, I'd have that saw in 3 piece in a week. About the only tool I don't modify is the tape measure and hammer, my tractor and equipment is always modified, one way or another.

My chainsaw rides on my ROPS so I didn't need "loops" on my winch. I need the saw no matter what attachment I am using -- especially the chipper, splitter and bush hog.

Look at the lower arms, they are only a little above level, so how can the 3 point be all the way up???

You need a better monitor for your puter... lol

Well, the 3501 has the two pull positions, (A high pulley can be added to the 3001 but I have not seen it offered as a factory made accessory)
The 3501 has a swinging base. A feature that aids clearance.
The saw scabboards and chain hooks, I can add to any unit.
It sounds like the 3501 is worth the few extra dollars.

When I got my Fransgard, the low pull pulley was an add on option, think around $500.00, I didn't get it, but at times it would be nice to have.
A swinging base is ok, I prefer a fixed base with 16 in. full up. I use the fixed base a lot, another use for it is my land is very rocky so when I back into a spot for winching, I can move a rock so the winch will set level.

I added on my winch a bigger screen, chain holders, trailer hitch, a 4 ft. rod holder, 5 chokers on the cable, modified the access place to change the cable, now it's ten times easier, Fransgard really dropped the ball there.

So lets do the math again, when your 3 point hitch is all the way up, how high is the winch blade off the ground, 16 in. is the number to beat, if you cant, that makes me the winner.
I cant seem to zoom in on your pic

Wanna bet a $100.00 on it?? Looser sends the winner the hundred...

IF the bet isn't paid, EVERYONE will know who the REAL looser is!

THAT would make it worth my time to go out, start the tractor and take picts...

SO, do you have a hundred dollars to loose?

I can bet a $1.00, payable the next time I'm out your way or in 100 years, what ever comes first, and there are no looser's in the winch height contest just winners, I'll let you be the winner, and I'll take sec. place.
