3-Point Hitch Skjold Plow on B7800?

You can try putting a square against the landside, then measure at a right angle from that line. Or, hook the tape on the landside and measure at 90 degrees to the farthest part of the share. Assuming the landside is fully against the edge of the furrow as you plow, the trailing corner of the share will determine the width of the cut. I'll try to get some pics and measurements of mine tomorrow, which are 12 inch plows.

I've got a couple of links to plow manuals which go into setup and adjustments. While they may not be Skjold manuals, the principle is the same. I'll look for those tomorrow too.

Hello all,

Fairly new Kubota owner here, and complete newbie in plowing.

I have access to a single bottom plow, an old Skjold that was pulled by an old Ford 8N. Knowing very little about how a plow works, I am wondering if it is worth the time to mess around with attaching it.

Both, of course, have a Category 1 hitch, so I am hopeful. The plow is a bit rusty, but all the parts that are supposed to move indeed do move.

I also have access to a drawbar, but not sure if that makes any difference.

Again, I have a Kubota B7800.

Thanks for any wisdom.

If you have access to it then just get it and try it. I believe your B7800 will pull it as long as you've got weight on the front of your tractor to hold it down. I used a plow on my B2320 that didn't have a FEL and the front end went for the sky. Had to make weights for the front.
Some people want to get so deep into technical details and that's great but I'd just put it on the tractor, 2 side pins and the upper arm and start pulling. Then adjust angles etc if your not getting the results you want.

Yeah, Sean, the manuals would be great. I know I might be tending toward paralysis by analysis, but on the other hand, the more I have my head around a project, the better I do when it comes to actual implementation.

Didn't find them today, tomorrow calls for rain so I'll be not so busy. If nothing else, they're a wealth of information about plows and plowing. The set up for your B7800 will be somewhat different than the 8N was, different height, width, etc. I used the Ferguson manual I have to set up the Kubota for my MF plow. It got me 90% of the way, the rest was tweaking a little here and there.

These look great, Sean, thanks so much. Lots of detail. Very much appreciated the time you took to get these out there.
