Slightly disgruntled.

Been trying to get a tractor for 3 weeks now. Found one, had everything ready to go and found a much closer dealer that was $1500 less. I went back to the first dealer to ask about matching the price. They could only come down $500. So there was still a $1000 difference. I was polite and honest with both dealers and ended up going with the one that was closer and less money.

This dealer has been good to work with until now. They got my tractor in last saturday and said it would be ready tuesday. I called them, it wasn't ready. They said call Weds. I called they said they would deliver it Friday morning. So, I rearranged my schedule for the 3rd time and worked 16 hours yesterday and came to work at 5 a.m. in order to get my tractor. They call this morning and said they can't deliver until tomorrow and they don't have the right bucket, no toothbar, and the wrong valve for the FEL.

They are willing to bring it to me, let me bush hog with it and then come back and get it to finish it. But, my plans included using the FEL most of the weekend! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Now, due to work and work related trips, my timeline for working on my place will be delayed by 4 weeks. I had planned to work all weekend at my place and it is going to be a beautiful weekend. Not to mentioned I have friends planning on helping this weekend and they are making a special trip to help.

Needless to say I am very upset. They have changed the date on me 3 times already. What's not to say there is other stuff not done. What should I do? I am ready to say forget it or at least just wait until it's completely ready. A the min. I am very dissappointed. In truth, this email should be in all caps with lots of !!!!, but it's not. That isn't the proper way to handle these things.

Feeling better now /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif? It'll all seem better when it finally does get there. I can't say what you should do - but I think if I needed to mow I'd get it in and get a start on it. Sounds like a big inconvenience, and I can understand the nuisance having to change your schedule... but hopefully they are trying their best as well. It sounds like you've had a good experience up till now, and we all know this is a crazy time of year for tractor dealers. I can't believe the volume of sales and service going on at my Deere dealer.

A salesman will promise you anything to get the sale. Knowing at the time they don't have all of the parts, etc.... Getting the sale is the primary objective, all else is trivial. There are some exceptions out there though.....

I say go ahead and get it for now to try it out. If you find something they can fix it when they take it back. An innconvience,yes but they might make up for it somehow. Have you only been talking to the salesman,or his boss?

Here's what I would do.

I would call your salesman. I would explain to him, civily, the high degree of inconvenience this has resulted in to not only you but to other people, emphasizing that this was done based on HIS timetable, not yours, and you are left holding the bag.

Next, as a compromise, I would suggest to him to figure out a way for him to get a close equivalent of a machine (demo, loaner or rental unit) to your property for the weekend.

This is win-win for everyone. He can help you out of a jam that he assisted in creating, you and your friends can get some work done, and he can build your tractor in his timetable without losing a customer.

That's what I'd do.

I would be diasappointed too. But I do know that the Deere product line can get some glitches too. I was 3rd party last year when a friend was away from home, and wanting to know when delivery was going to happen. He wanted to leave his tractor at his farm, and not bring it home with him IF the new one was going to be delivered.

I knew the salesman, so talked with him. He had knowledge that the attachment (snowblower) that was to come with the tractor was released to the truckers the week before, but due to busy schedules, or whatever, it took another week to get the pickup made (Christmas time was involved, so probably had something to do with it). Just that there are a number of things that have to happen, which most of the time do happen on time, but sure are inconvenient when they slow down.

I ordered an item via internet last Saturday on Memorial Day weekend, and was told it would be 8-10 business days for expected delivery. It arrived about an hour ago via UPS from NC. Pretty amazing. Now, a grand daughter's violin took a full two weeks to get turned over to UPS and shipped from LA.

Hope you have a good weekend, in spite of the inconvenience. Hope to get some pics when your new purchase gets delivered.

Sounds a little like my situation-ordered tractor and mower three weeks ago. The tractor showed up in a week, the mower came from the same place but was not put on the truck. When it was finally shipped it went east instead of west and is now expected next week sometime. I will be out of town for the next nine days. The tractor I orderd was the new for this year NH TZ24DA and the first one the dealer had ordered. The way my luck is going they will have demoed it to the tune of about 10 hours before I get it delivered.

You should make it very clear to the dealer that it is not to be used as a demo. This is a reasonable request and one your dealer should honor. That is a sold tractor and should not be placed out on the lot.

in my estimation u have every right to be digruntled or even angry. if they told u one thing they should have been able to deliver, if they could not deliver thy should have told u that also. I personally am dismayed at the way businnes's lie to the customers.

Dave, I understand your delema and your response, but please keep in mind that this happens amoung all the brands and is not necessarily the dealer's fault. I have been at my dealer's place several times while they were trying to get tractors ready for delivery, and they found this valve or that bolt not there, or tolerances that would not allow a bolt to go through etc. The dealer probably thought everything would be ready and the MFG didn't send everything. It happens ALL THE TIME. I, myself, ordered my backhoe in January, got it in April. Not the dealer's fault. BH came without the dirt pads, not the dealer's fault. If they are willing to transport the tractor to your place, and pick it up later to complete it, I think you should do just that. Use what you can, and get as much of that type work done. You'll have lots of time later to get the other stuff done. This problem probably would have happened with the other dealer as well, and you saved $1500. Don't forget that. John
