Slime?

I use it inside the tubes of my off road motorcycle. Can't get a flat with a bulldozer /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The product claims to seal a 1/8" puncture. It is a big thing for the desert motorcycle guys with all the cactus. They describe pulling into the finish line with a bunch of bright green poke-a-dots where the slime filled punctures.

In the workd of dirt biking in the NW we run into roots alot, they are like attached fallen logs. This causes a pinch flat, I haven't had one since sliming. Besides it's cheap.

Like the others, I love Slime. I haven't had a bad flat since I started using it. I will warn you though that there are two different kinds of Slime, some for tubeless tires and some for tubed. I don't know what the difference is. There are other makes of the stuff that don't make a distinction.

What I've done lately when purchasing a new tire is to have a tube installed right from the start and slime it. That way if I get a big hole, I will just junk the tube and boot the tire, ready to be slimed again.

I've seen this Slime in stores, is Slime more of a prevenative maintenace product whereas Fix-a-flat is what you use after the fact?

Yes the original product is a prevenative and is a liquid only with no pressure to inflate. Slime is also putting out a flat repair kit that will seal the hole and then pressurize. If you use the prevenative in the first place you should prevent most flats.This stuff is available at most cycle shops,walmart tsc northern etc.Good product.

I've got slime in all tires on my ATVs and my lawn tractor. I haven't put it into my new Montana 5740C yet, but plan on doing so here real soon. I had it in my Kubota's tires and when I had to have a front tire removed and replaced, the tire shop worker went ballistic over the slime when he saw it. Apparently it's a mess to work with when repairing a tire. I've had ATV shops tell me they'll charge extra to fool with a tire and rim with slime in it!! Oh well, it's worth the extra cost to me!!

I live in the world of Mesquite trees they have big thorns. I slime everything that moves 1 inch off of the road. If I did not it would be flat in 15 minutes. The stuff works great. It is water soluable and will wash right off if you need to remove a tire or whatever.

Just make sure you do two things. Ensure that you have ENGOUGH slime for the tire you're doing and make sure your roll that tire for a while after installing the Slime. I've seen people try to skimp on putting in enough and then wonder why there's still some leaking. Not rolling the tire right away prevents the Slime for good coverage in the first place. John

I have Slime in my ATVs and have had no problems. My tractor had lots of front tire flats until I put in the TSC brand sealant, and since then, not a problem. Sealant works, it does not have to be the more expensive green one. There is one kind that is for tube tires, and another for tubeless. They work great.
