I was considering getting a slingshot like I had when I was a kid. I had a wristrocket and I was pretty good with it. I even hunted rabbits and squirrels. I have a coon problem in the horse barn and firearms are disruptive to the animals. Yes, I have trapped them but I have a couple who seem smarter than the live trap. They are extremely destructive.

I was on the web looking at the new high tech models, models with laser sights and different acessories. Anyone out there have one? Can you still get the old reliable Wristrocket? Input needed before purchase.

What's wrong with some innertube and a willow crotch? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wow! You just brought back memories! I used to have one too. It had surgical tubing for the bands, and a leather pocket. Great fun with that thing! Although, I haven't seen one in years!. What abour cheaperthandirt?

Here it is:

Good luck,

Ooppss... Looks like Michigan doesn't allow law abiding citizens to purchase sling shots. Michigan is listed as a state they do not ship sling shots into. I imagine you are much safer knowing your neighbors can't buy sling shots. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I wonder who allowed that law to pass? Probably was included in some verbage of an assault weapon ban, so it encompasses everything. Good news though, they must think a crossbow is less deadly since you can purchase that. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Egon, I'm like you. The only ones I ever had were a forked stick, rubber cut from an old inner tube, and the leather tongue from an old shoe.

The company that made the original is still around. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

We lived near an abandoned police shooting range when I was a kid. There were thousands of .38 slugs in the side of the hills there... free wrist rocket ammo for any kid willing to dig it out. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Remember losing a band on one of those things. YIKES! that hurts. And remember putting new ones on? Alchohol and water, slip on the tubes and wait overnight for it to dry. The anticipation knowing that tomorrow you will have your old faithful slingshot back in action. Those things were darn accurate. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Slingshots, isn't that old fasfioned? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif How about throwing a 450 MPH potato at them with a high tech spud launcher? It works real well on the Canadian Geese that land in my pond. The best part is you don't even need to hit them, just the noise from the incoming round scares the bajabeezes outta em. And as I tell the wife, it also makes great mashed potatoes. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif launcher

You might try ringing around the fishing tackle shops. I'd be surprised if they don't stock some bait slingshots. The ones we used as boys had an aluminium carcass with square rubber tubing and a leather pouch. Marbles were the ammunition of choice if we had a chance of retrieving them.
