There's definitely a kink in the line somewhere between here and yonder. Am I the only one who has time to go get another cup of coffee every time I change screens this morning?

Seems a bit slower for me also, Bird.

I've also noticed that it "hangs" more often than usual lately. By hang, I mean that when I click on a message nothing happens. If I'm in a hurry I'll hit stop and retry. Usually it works OK on the third try for some reason.

I've been experiencing the same things...slower to start....hanging up...Wasn't sure if it was just my laptop getting warm or what. Oh well at least we have coffee! Although that always seems slow when I'm waiting for a fresh cup. Should remember to set the timer better..LOL

Extremely slow from here in Northern Virginia - and I'm on a T1 line straight to the internet! Other web sites are fine.

We're aware of the problem... should have some more information soon, maybe a fix.

Thanks for looking into the speed, Muhammad. Things have been the slowest I have ever seen here in Georgia.

A lot of sites were like that this morning, usually I see it a lot in the 4AM to 6AM (ET) weekend hours (when servers and routers are typically taken off line for service). It did last later for some time today. Iwon was soooo-sloooooow this morning, I gave up. All seems OK now.

Roy, that's weird. You say all seems OK now, and for me just this one site has been so slow that there's no way I could have read the messages if it hadn't been so cold, cloudy, and damp all day yesterday and today that I've just been sitting here at the computer and listening to the stereo. I've given up on Tractorbynet several times each day and come back later and read a few more; but it takes forever.

BIRD, you're not alone, I keep hitting my check email button on my other browser just to make sure I'm still connected!

Sometimes I can't get it to go back to the last page either, which is weird, sometimes it works if I hit "stop" then I may get enough of a page loaded to read, but if I don't get enough sometimes when I hit "refresh" it gives me nothing until I go back to my original link to TBN. I don't seem to be having problems with other websites, however at times today I've also had YAHOO load at a crawl.

Must be all the bandwith from my blabberings that is slowing things down!

I'll start looking at my posts with a more critical eye from now on. Example of new quick load post:

We're working on getting a result to the current problem, and also considering more major/long term changes/solutions. Thanks for your patience...

Hey guys,

It's no better up here in the Northeast. I've been experiencing the same "hangups" RobS described in his post and just as Del says won't refresh or backup and if you hit the stop button sometimes the page loads. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Sure is nice though, to know that Muhammad has his electronic wrenches, and a bottle of headache remedy by his side! I imagine he has to tinker with this now and then.

I wonder if Muhammad put in a bad batch of diesel this morning? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

This is strange! At the times shown on all of your post, I was getting normal and customary response times (like right now). Maybe ISP related? (I am on UUNET right now). Muhammad, if I remember correctly, did you mention once that your servers are tied-in with AT&T? I have an ISP with them also, but haven't been on AT&T at all today.

Yeah, del, Muhammad's diesel might have gotten a little rain or snow in it lately./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif As long as Muhammad's still working on it, everything is OK though; he'll get it. It's just that Roy scared me with the thought that maybe Muhammad was through working on it and I still had the problem./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Could be water in the fuel. Running rough and surges under load. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Bird; I scared you? I might be butt-ugly, but I'm not scary looking. BTW, what's with the Blue-Book I'm afraid I have to agree with Roy. Why you afraid of me?? (Just kidding, I know what you meant in both cases, just had to razz you /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif)

BEYOND SLOW...

Now it is slower then molasses in Alaska.

Reminds me of a program I have that allows me to run Windows on my Mac (or pretend like I am). I have one program that only works in Windows, but the interface is so slow it is unuseable. I keep the program around only to show newbies how the mac runs and how slow "windows" is /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

signing off until we get back out of 1st Gear...

It's just nice to know someone is actually there looking at this.

My old internet provider people were trained to go into a long spiel about looking at my settings etc when I was having problems or that it was my modem, my computer etc. Well that's possible, but I would tell them that I have two different computers running two different operating systems running two different brand modems, using two different phone lines (one under ground, one overhead) and still nothing. AFter that they would listen, if neither could log on it was NOT my fault.

Then they acquired 24 hour tech "Help" based out of state when they were bought out. They always wanted my user name, password, grandmothers bra size etc before they would even SPEAK to me, the idiots. One time I was trying to tell them of a sure problem with their equipment, they "checked" and said there was no problem. At that very instant, (about midnight?) their office in Tacoma (NWRain.net) was literally burning to the ground. DUH

Having someone actually looking after the mysteries behind how this board operates sets this at the top of the class.

Right now at least the posting part is working like normal!

OK, Del, I surrender... You win, you had me laughing like anything! The grandmothers bra size reminded me of a Monty Python skit where everyone had to give their shoe size, even when calling Fire and Rescue. That's when I really lost it. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
