Slow response time

Have you already done the maintenence? Just curious since I also noticed the slowdown today. Most of the time things whizz by pretty quick (good response time), but a couple times today it twas slow! I didn't capture the stats though. I will next time if you still want that kind of input.

We are still looking into it.

The maintenance we did earlier had nothing to do with the slowdowns, incidently.

But the reprieve from the delays did give me some home.

Things had been moving along pretty good this morning. Then all of a sudden I got this while trying to view the main index.

Unfortunately we're now waiting on others, again, to upgrade.

We are working on a more permanant solution. But it's hard to stop growth. It's like a teenager, sprouting up a foot every week it seems!

Last night the slowdowns were horrendous. I clicked Discussions from the TBN homepage and nothing happened. I cliecked a few more times. Then I just said heck with it and let it wait. I think it was about 192 seconds before the forums loaded. I was then going to come to this thread to mention it. It was hanging again, so I called it a night.

It's very likely that you logged on during the "downtime."

I didn't actually shut off the webservers, so the site was still availible, but the databases were down.

Keep using it today, now that the upgraded RAM has gone through.

Lately, the forum has just been too slow for me to use this time of night, but she's blazing tonight, even with 196 people online. Occasionally takes as long as .4 of a second. Great job, guys.

Is it possible that the automated banner at the top of the screen is implicated in the slowdown issue? I ran into the slows last night - it seemed related to advertising cookies that were loading with the John Deere ad at the top of the page.

Every night the forum runs through some maintenance and that does cause slowdowns for the period that it runs that. So that's likely what you're running into.

I just did the same right now to get the search working again, and now the search should continue to keep working properly.

there was just a mega slowdown actually, i figured it was something like that. its about 5:30 pm, my prime viewing time, looks like its in the middle of your update time /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
