I just had about the same times going into Kubota Owning/Operating.

It would be interesting to see how the times are calculated. Is it actual query processing time or total elapsed clock time? If it's the former then I might look at disk hardware. If the latter then something else might be running on the server at a higher priority.

And this morning, mine's going in fractions of a second. Instead of TBN, I'm inclined to suspect (as a computer dummy) that the problem is either with our individual ISPs or the routing.

I rarely get a really slow response but it does happen. One of the interesting things about using the Firefox browser is that it shows the various sites that are loading before a page finishes. With cable boradband, usually they go by so fast that they aren't noticed. But if there's any delay, they show up. At the bottom left of the window, where it normally shows the page that is loading or the word "done". I will see the phrase, "Waiting for x". Currently, the one I see most often when it slows down is, "Waiting for a.as-us.falkag.net" or something very close to that -- when I tried to see it long enough to get all the letters correct, it was running too quickly. Occasionally, when I see a slow response, the warning will be "Waiting for..." and then something to do with DoubleClick.

In other words, at least on my computer, it appears that slow responses are caused by delays in linking ads from other sites, not by anything in the forum software, itself. However, please don't take this as a complaint about the ads -- except for the JD ad, they are unobtrusive and often add another source of information to the site.

I don't think so. The page generation time reported by TBN is the time the TBN takes to formulate the page that will be displayed. If you are experiencing long waits for a page to be displayed and the TBN reported time is very short (ie. less than 5 secs) then the problem is routing/isp related. Whenever the TBN time is long it is related to something happening on the TBN server.

As I said before, depending on how the time is calculated, the problem can be one of several. I assume our esteemed hosts Muhammad and Ibrahim are looking at all potential hardware and software causes.

I was going to the Main Index from Parts/Repairs - PTO Slip Clutch.

I then clicked the title of this thread from the Main Index and got this:

Generated in 16.956 seconds in which 16.906 seconds were spent on a total of 17 queries. Zlib compression enabled.

Edit:

Was going from the Mahindra forum to the Main Index and got this:

Generated in 55.258 seconds in which 55.21 seconds were spent on a total of 20 queries. Zlib compression enabled.

Went from Main Index back to this thread by clicking the title that was visible and got this:

Generated in 30.562 seconds in which 30.521 seconds were spent on a total of 17 queries. Zlib compression enabled.

Last night when I tried to go from the Oil, Fuel and Lubricants forum to the Main Index, it hung up until I finally gave up and closed my browser, so I don't know how long it would have taken if I'd kept waiting.

Well,

One thing: The holdups at 2 and 3 and 4am (depending on where you are in the country) are definitely the backups and optimizations running. I run them at the lowest peak times. But even 5am in New York will catch us at a slow time because of the time zone difference.

But that's about how long the optimization takes. (3-5 minutes each time.)
