Tractor
CK 30H
Went out to mow last evening and the CK30 HST just barely moved in reverse. Foward was good. Looked at sliding dohickies underneath but didn't see anything obvious, but tend to believe it has to do with those gadgets rather than tran problem. Tractor only has 22 hrs on it.

Any ideas?

Flyer, the HSTs are built so that they are slower in reverse than in forward. Basically, the first stage of the hydro transmission doesn't allow the swash plate to go on full stroke when the reverse treadle is pushed. If you get 5 mph in forward, you can only expect 3 in reverse. Check to see if you are experiencing the normal slow reverse, or if you have a different issue.

Dave, I went to dealer a little while ago but there wasn't anyone there to help me til monday. Looked at an HST on the lot and the rear pedal did stand up higher than mine. So maybe that is my problem...bent pedal...but I don't see how with only 22 hrs on it and I've only used it mowing with min backing up using the pedal. Can it be bent back up? Or will I need another pedal?

PS: ERE: the rearward travel is extremely slow; about 2/3 slower than it had been previously.

Edited to add: Dave, you hit the nail on the head! Just went out and put pry bar under the rear threadle and it bent up easily. Now it works like it did before. If it does this again, I might have it taken off and a reinforceing bar welded underneath, or somesuch.

I've have bent mine a few times over the years and you'll see other posts from members too. The same thing goes for forward which is what normally happens to mine. I'll reinforce it someday after the honey do list. :)

I've bent mine too. Before you go adding strength to the treddle be careful about where that extra force will be transferrred. Perhaps the treddle bending is way way easier to fix than an internal transmission piece.

Hi,
Unfortunately we tend to step on it when we get on and off without noticing. If it is under 2 years old you can get a new pedal under warranty. We keep them in stock because so many people (or kids) stand on them and bend them.
Glad you fixed it.

I know this isn't your issue as you have it figured out BUT
We have had a similar issue happen......someone had flipped the "Cruise Control" lever when the machine was off.
This makes the treadle do almost the same thing.
