small 6-8hp diesel engines

Anyone know of a source of small 4-8hp diesel engines? Little pull starts are fine. Even a cost effective chineese diesel would be nice.
Someplace that doesnt require me to by a cargo ship full to get a usable price.

I could swear I saw them in a Northern catalog or on thier website. That would be worth checking.

HardyDiesel sells Chinese Diesel engines. Download their catalog listed on the mainpage and down on page 10 they list the new diesel engines they sell--the smaller 4 HP unit is $500.

This eBay seller usually has one or two engines for sale. Never used him though.

This eBay seller, Powerful Solutions is pretty reliable and has several types of Diesel engines.

And if you are into the nutball types of Diesel engines, check out Utter Power. The above link Powerful Solutions sell these types of engines. If nothing else this is a very entertaining web site for engine nuts.

I'm not sure where you can get a small diesel engine. The one's at Northern are in the mid 20 hp Range. with a cost of over $4,000
As for E-bay you can save a little $'s there but you are still looking at $2.500 and higher. Even at that they are still in the mid to upper 20 HP range.
As for a lower HP diesel moter i've never seen one that was under 16 HP

Here is a site that sells air cooled, one cylinder diesel engines. The state of Illinois uses them on their highway arrow boards and have very little trouble with them.small diesels

Do a search using Diesel Engine suppliers. Lots of sites.

Northern had some diesel engines in the range that you are looking for the last time I looked. They are not cheap though.

Yanmar, I believe, makes a 4, 7, and 10 hp diesel engine. I have a 10-hp yanmar on my generator. Very nice engine.
