Thanks DFKrug. It looks like using the DiscountHydraulicHose.com: 9624-06-L08-14 | 3/8" JIC Female x M14x1.5 Metric Male (fits 8 mm tube) with a DiscountHydraulicHose.com: 2405-06-04 | 3/8" JIC Male x 1/4" NPTF Female Pipe should allow me to make it work. Yeah the ~$16 for that DIN/JIC adapter is pricey.

I ordered them and I will report back if it is a success.

Edit: 8/08 Got in the parts and it looks perfect for running tests. using a 14M cap off the machines selector valve it looks to match the hose ends nicely. I bought the 0-5000lb pressure gauge from Measureman Direct for under $15 So altogether it was just about $45 for the setup.

Edit: 8/11 Ran pressure test this morning and it tested out at 2500psi so it is good from all that I read about what it should be. Test setup worked great and no leaks (until I disconnected things).

I was doing the spring upgrade to a Diggit EM15 the other day, and I noticed this problem with the engine speed control lever.

This is the same unit seen on virtually all of the 1-ton-ish Chinese minis, with the push button in the middle.

I see that water easily gets in, and pools inside, rusting the spring. Both the button and outer handle thread on separately. What's the repair? Take it apart, grease the threaded parts, and put a big dollop of grease in the recess where the spring goes. One could even drill a hole in the outer part of the handle so water drains out.

Then, keep your machine out of the rain, and protect the throttle control if washing it.

So far, my 7yo XN08 has had fewer repairs than modifications.
Good place for a 300-series stainless steel wire material (at least) for that spring.

Here is a photo I copied off FB, from a group called "Chinese Excavator Owners". Chris V of Nebraska posted it.

This is from one of the "L-bracket" hydraulic thumbs, usually installed at the factory. It is designed incorrectly, putting bending forces on the cylinder rod. Sometimes the rod bends, and sometimes the L-bracket breaks.

There are better thumb kits out there, but the mechanical thumb pivots on the dipper are all in the wrong places. Ya gotta start over with new pivots.

It is difficult to find things on FB Groups, and now there are many many groups, loaded with sales people, and named for each "brand" that comes out. TBN is WAY better.

With all the added washers it does not look like a typical factory install. Nasty looking bend to the cylinder. It would make me wonder about the hydraulic setup for it. No give when bringing bucket and thumb together. Maybe too high of hydraulic pressure?

Certainly agree about Facebook. A lot of search results take you there when trying to get information about a particular Mini Ex. Not all that helpful. Much prefer the format here.

No. You can not offset the thumb's upper dipper stick cylinder pivot from the mounting point. Doing so puts a bending moment on the cylinder, which will result in bending the rod (or breaking the bracket).

Designers need to make a "free-body diagram" to understand the forces involved.
