I use a small receiver mount. 1 1/4" tube for winch base and 1 1/2" -1/8" wall tube for the receiver.

The second pic is a mount for the front of another trailer.

Yes, I thought of the same thing....maybe put a permanent upright receiver and then have a wince mounted on an insert. take off when finished...Maybe a #2000 winch or so...
