Smoke irritating my lungs - how much smoke is normal?

Also note in the diagram, the vertical exhaust tip beyond the muffler is quite tall.

Wow, thanks for the info! It looks like my exhaust is identical to the vertical pictured. I think the burning oil is most of the problem, but I'd sure love that underslung exhaust! The chances of finding something like that are slim and none. I do have a new welder, but am not sure what kind of pipe I'd need to use.

Also, these tractors were surprisingly EXPENSIVE back in the day! When I use the inflation calculator, it tells me that the 1979 price in today's dollars would be $22,810 for the 4wd model with ag tires. Wow.

A muffler shop can provide and bend tubing. But I wouldn't bother to do that.

Google Walker flexible exhaust pipe.....Comes is 3 and 6 foot sections or longer!...

Are you sure you don't have exhaust leaks. if you have the vertical pipe at normal height it should be well above your head and not in your face, smoke or no smoke, at least mine is not.

That's with inflation.

That $6300 car will be quite a bit higher than that in 2017 dollars. Possibly close to that $20k mark

if its pointed too far forward you still will smell and drive into it. I have a pipe just like the picture and until I pointed it to the right I was constantly driving right through the exhaust.
