I have a strange situation, see if I can explain it. I changed my 4-wire outlet to 3-wire (in another (thread). It runs the welder just fine on 230v. I bought a large 50-foot extension cord for $25 and then configured the outlets how I wanted (as in the pic).
Here it shows 113.3v. If I pull the trigger on the angle grinder the volts goes to zero (~230mV) The generator will NOT run a 115v tool on the duplex outlet (off one of the legs). Does anybody know why?
I thought it might be a bad conductor in the cord but if I measure the voltage directly at the outlet (the same leg) it goes to ~zero (leg to ground) the same as it does out at the extension duplex. If I measure the other leg it goes to 230v (leg to ground).
It seems this generator objects to an imbalance in draws from each leg.
