Smoothing Clear Cut Land

/ Smoothing Clear Cut Land #51
What is your time frame? If you expect 2-3 years before you have a nice clean pasture, I'd highly suggest burning. A good hot ring fire will clear most of your brush in the first fire. After you get good new growth (more fuel) in the following growing season you can burn again and get a very cleaned up area. Only after 2 good hot burns would I worry about ruts/stumps. At this point you won't have any litter in your way to mess up equipment and will have a much easier time seeing what is left and determining which ruts and stumps really need to be dealt with. If you don't have a wide road or fire break around this area, have your logging crew clear it before they leave- minimal cost for both of you. Also the sheep will love the new rapid growth coming up post fire.
