Snake Guards (leggins)

My wife and I took a walk this weekend. She said "snake" and I turned around and grabbed it. I was surprised we saw a snake this early in the year, but we saw several dozen turtles as well.

The snake let me know it wasn't too happy about the situation, so I let it go after the photo shoot.

If you handle them a cpl min, they become very tame once they realize you're not going to eat them. They also really enjoy the warmth of your hands, especially this time of the year. NOT recommend with poisonous varieties though.

You can't see it too well in the first pic, but it had a somewhat stubby tail. So something got to it at one time or another. Also, the area has ospreys, numerous species of hawks, a pair of nesting bald eagles, coyotes, foxes, and too many great blue herons to count. The thing is lucky to be alive.
