snake story

That's a shame. A snake like that will keep all other snakes away, ie copperheads, moccasins, even rattlers. I have about a 6 footer around my place that I leave be, he is the ONLY snake I ever see also.....

If they were not so hard on birds and their eggs( Domestic and wild) I would agree with you.

The only snake I will tolerate is a King snake, the other's end up dead.

good luck

If a snake fell out of the tree on me they'd find my lifeless body with a death grip on the steering wheel. I know some are good but they just creep me out. I'd need therapy for months if I knew they were that big in trees over my head. You guys better move north.....safer!

Drove my Toyota Pickup about 30 minutes yesterday to the local dealership for servicing. When I came out and was walking to my wifes car (waiting to pick me up), I noticed the service manager examing the ground. As I walked over, there was a 3 foot long black snake that had just came out from underneith my truck. As this was in the middle of a rather large parking lot, we both figured that he had hitched a ride from my place.

He scooped up the snake in a bag and took it to the woods and let it gol.

2 months ago i was doing some dirt work, some loose dirt was piled up around a massive cedar tree. I got a little too close and barely bumped the tree with the loader. Soon as i bumped it here fell a 3 foot snake out from the branches landing right on the hood , i froze and it seemed like the snake did the same thing, we looked at each other for a second and he took off 90 mph over the side. Dont know what i would have done if he had fell on me rather than the hood

I am in the mind set of "the only good snake is a dead snake" - BUT if i could get them to wear a bell so I knew where they were at all times (ie so they dont scare me) I would change my mind..

Good Afternoon Guys,
There was a thread on here a couple years back about snakes. There was one fella out in AZ I believe, member name Tombstone, or maybe thats where he was from I cant quite remember !

Anyway he was out bushoggin and some how about three rattlers got onto his tractor platform !

Either way, snakes on my tractor platform or snakes falling on me from a tree, would not go over too big ! ;):)

My implement storage area (my wife refers to it as the junk area) behind the shop was getting a little over grown so I thought it was time to move everything and cut the grass. When I moved the rotary cutter I found a snake skin. I was careful moving my box blade, plow, PH digger, boom pole, etc. Thought everything was fine and began cutting around the shop when a 3 snake fell out a tree and it my arm. Needless to say he is now headless. My heart only missed a couple of beats. I think the snake was a nonpoisonous water snake.

I don稚 hate snakes but this one was too close for comfort.

I plan to remedy this situation this weekend by creating a gravel parking pad for implements so I don稚 have two feet of grass surrounding seldom used implements.

That's one reason I really like my Kubota B3030 cab tractor. It keeps me safe from those kinds of critters.

Or leaves you with only a couple of exits when one inadvertantly gets in. Nice warm cab, small hole for electric wires... Don't ever think the cab is keeping you safe ;-)

We found a common hog nose snake in our driveway last year. I suited up with welding gloves a shovel and 5 gallon pail to relocate the beast. My wife walked right past me said "You P#$%Y" picked up the snake and let it go out back. There are only four snakes in the world that bother me, ( big ones, little ones, live ones and dead ones,).
Bill

Lots of info claims the common hog nosed snake is not poisonous but THAT IS NOT THE CASE. They don't have hollow fangs up front like rattle snake, cotton mouth or copper head but... they do have poison glands.

In order to get envenomated by a hog nosed snake you have to get a finger or other part of your anatomy into the back of the snakes mouth which is not likely most of the time.

It would pay to learn the characteristics of all venomous snakes in your area and leave the others alone. Some of the non venomous snakes eat venomous snakes while others eat rats and nice.
