Snake trapping

I have used this and it has never failed me. I use that black plastic bird netting that goes over your crops and fruit tree tops to keep birds off. It kind of looks like chicken wire but it is very soft and foldable. Anyway. I spread it out and surround the snake hole and weigh it down with rocks. This way if they get through on the way out they will get it on the way in. I don't lay it flat I make it wavy so they will try to go over and through it and when they come out they get hooked like a snare. There is no saving the snake unless you cut them out. They get all tangled in it to the point that they can't even bite. They can strike but usually they have their head stuck shut. Don't count on it though.
Works like a champ if you know where they are. Also, leave it there for a good while because snakes are capable of going a long time between meals. Just when you think they are gone you end up with a snake.

Several years ago I inadvertently caught two rat snakes in nylon bird netting that was touching the ground around a blueberry bush. It was no fun cutting them out and releasing them, they were pretty mad.
