I just dealt with this yesterday, you need to call 888-331-4569 and listen to the prompts.... you'll respond that you want English, you bought at a Sears store, and then there will be 7 or 8 options... it is the last one and will queue you into a holding pattern. After maybe 10 minutes on hold I got to an American woman who was very polite, I explained that the Sears around here all closed and pulled out of the Malls in the area... so she apologized and asked for the part number of my 30 year old American forged wrench. I gave it, she explained that she is shipping me a new one, I joked saying that I want a forged in USA one and not a China trash one.... She LOL'ed at me said that I was dreaming. But my imported 15mm combination box wrench will be here in around 2 weeks.

So you can get it done even if like me, there is no longer a Sears near you.

So I finally got a chance to call them yesterday. I need to replace my 1/2" drive, 10" ratchet extension.

Looks like they're sending it out which is pretty cool.

I had to go through a real grind of a phone call, about an hour. Had to do "phase one" with the first phone call, she took all my data, then told me to call another number to actually get the unit sent out.

So I call the second number.....who says they can't help me....I need to call the FIRST number.

I was about ready to pull my hair out. I firmly told her what was going on and she ended up getting it done.

It was an exasperating experience for me....but one that I expected from them. The folks were probably in the Phillipenes as you could understand them, but then again, they were difficult to understand. They were not your typical "midwest accent" females.

Still.... it did seem to work and for that, I appreciate your help!

As I was working through this, I wondered... had I called them and said I had an item (ratchet, breaker bar, torque wrench...) would they have sent that free of charge too??

My buddy and I were talking the other day about that phone call and the tool that I got really quickly. One of his first comments was... I wonder many idiots are scamming and stealing from them using this program, and how long until that causes it all to get shut down and cause us honest folks to no longer have the ability to use this program.

Honestly, I appreciate that they shipped my combination wrench since a lot of my told over the years were Craftsman because they were in the Beaver Valley Mall not even 15 minutes from me. They have pulled out of the 3 regional shopping malls in this area, so short of me going on a real life road trip.... This program is my only option.

I'm happy that they squared you away and your made whole again. Please do not be tempted to abuse the program. I know it's easy to to abuse. So let's hope that the strong majority of us are honest and good people.

Note also that the lady I spoke to did say that in the future Lowe's will be sticking individual part numbers and will at some point take over the face to face type of exchanges that you and I had at the Sears stores in the past.

RESULTS!

Interested in outcome... Was thinking of getting DeWalt as all my battery tools are DeWalt... And now DeWalt has adapter to use the 20 volt Lithium in 18 volt line of tools...

Friend has a Milwaukee "Fuel" battery impact, its a monster, but expensive...

Also noticed in many "car" build shows on TV guys are using the 1/4 inch hex impact for lighter work.... Was surprised when my small DeWalt impact (1/4 inch) drove a 1/2 X 5 inch lag screw into wood (with pilot hole of course)...

Think this socket driver is only tool Harbor Freight made that impressed me...

3 Piece Hex Shank Socket Driver Set

FINALLY. We had the "Torqueoff Competition" today. It was the red one (Milwaukee M18 Fuel Hi Torque) and my yellow one (DeWalt DCF899 Hi Torque) that rode in the Tahoe since February waiting for this opportunity. We were fortunate enough to have a Gradall 1044D, our DeWalt rep, and our vendor's mechanic all there at our shop at the same time. The mechanic had purchased the Milwaukee because other mechanics from the same company swore the only impact that would break the tough nuts loose was the red one. She told us that the thing she dreaded even more than handling loaded tires had been breaking the lug nuts loose. Before getting the Milwaukee, she used a very long cheater. The DeWalt rep looked a little worried as we all walked out to do the test.

I don't know what size nuts are used on those wheels, but we used a 1/2" to 3/4" upducer because we had to go with 3/4" drive impact sockets. Nobody there had a large enough 1/2" drive socket. Both impact wrenches spun the lug nuts off with the same amount of effort. All in attendance agreed that both wrenches performed very well and equally.

A little anticlimactic but I was relieved that a girl armed with a Milwaukee didn't kick my butt:)
