Maybe they're grumpy because their internet is slow.😀

Or perhaps it's caffeine withdrawal from lack of Starbucks.🍵

I don't believe it's snobbery so much, just fear of failing in a country situation and thinking they are inadequate at handling country living: more than a postage stamp sized lawn, water from a well, open fences you can see through, dirt roads, children who play for the fun of it instead of their parents wanting them to go away, septic tanks and fields. Open and unlocked doors ! (We have city people come here to visit and they lock their cars even though they are parked 800' off our road and within eye-sight of our porch) ! Dogs and cats allowed to roam outdoors, wild animals (deer, pheasants, swans, geese, ducks and coyotes). Gunfire, birds besides english sparrows, no traffic noise, porch swings, tractors with more than 12 hp, dirty boots, horses, atvs, goldenrod, fishing ponds and great looking females without makeup shoveled on them. (can I be kicked off the forum for saying that?), cowboy boots with real poop on them instead of fake poop, and burning leaves in the Fall. OH MY GOD, THERE"S A WEED ON YOUR LAWN. Oh the horrors of country life.

When we were looking for land my wife had a new Audi suv. She was 9 months pregnant when I walked a 10 acre place. When I get back to car that was parked on the side of the Dirt road that was a dead end she was mad. Apparently a neighbor came up to her and told her to move. Long story short he was a prick and got off on intimidating a pregnant woman. After she calmed me down we decided first we weren’t buying here and second her car had to go.

If she had a flat tire, the chances of someone stopping to help would be very slim. When you’re in an area that doesn’t have much, sometimes they will treat people they perceive to have something poorly. We ended up buying a place as the crow flies 1mile away but about a 15min drive.

Sometimes it’s not the snobs from town that have the attitude. Being pricks affects all economic levels, previous zip codes, or backgrounds

You just documented being less neighborly than him.
Yes and no, there is more to the story.
I own next to and across the road. I like to cut firewood in the summer earlyish. I start no earlier then 8am. When he first moved in after the first few non waves from the car I am cutting wood at around 10am. I see him come out of his house, I stop what I am doing make eye contact and start to walk over. He turns his back and walks back in the house. OK . Another time my wife and I were walking the dog and he is outside, again makes a bee line into the garage. With that and not waving I clearly got the vibe he wanted nothing to do with me. If my cutting bothered him I would have stopped if he asked. Really want nothing to do with someone who wants nothing to do with me. I damage his truck or something I am in a law suit just like that. He waves me down and asks I help. I frequently plow my other neighbors out and one I have maybe spent a total of 10 minutes total talking to him in 15 years. Even though he never asked I stopped cutting wood until midday even though I have no clue if that was it. He may be mad I put posted signs up right after he moved in, but the truth is I removed the previous one a few weeks prior to him moving and was replacing them. Don't know .............

City folks tend to be anti-social. They bring that attitude with them to the country. It's nothing personal about you so just continue to wave and eventually they may learn to be civil.

The same thing happens here. Darn City folk. 25 years ago I had my new down hill neighbor call me one evening to tell me MY weeds were plugging his culvert. I informed him out here we all took care of are own culverts But if he could get my up hill neighbor to clean my culvert I would clean his, But then he would have to clean his down hill neighbors. He call me back about culverts again. But he did continue to be an idiot.

WOW! Guess I'm lucky to just have a few snobs that don't return my waive.

I will continue to waive and help my neighbor no matter how they act if snobbery is the worst they do.

If you want real trouble, give a middle aged man a UTV.

I guess I am fortunate to only have 3 neighbors that share the lane. Then two split off half way so it is really just me and one neighbor. I take care of everything since they are elderly and medically challenged. We do not have snow to speak of but we have massive trees that drop big limbs on a regular basis. Also leaves, washouts, downed trees, etc.
