Snobs moving to the country

You guys need to get of your high horse.

People of all types, smart, dumb, kind, and just plain jerks. May find it hard to believe, but you'll find all types in both the city or country. Clint prime example of being the latter, being a "country boy" mind you because he didn't want to help because he wasn't "recognized".

The only time people trespassed on my property, guess where they were from? Not the city. All the beer cans on my local roads aren't coming from the people the moved in from the city as well.
True, but not a popular view on this forum. It was local loggers and a couple of renegade 4 wheelers (we have game camera footage) who trashed our stream ford, resulting in it being closed to all.

What we call excessive pride of place seems to be common in city neighborhoods, suburbs and exurbs, and rural areas all. After you have lived in enough* places, seems pretty silly.

* Enough for me is Bavaria, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Still optimistic about humankind....

Way back in the 80's two of us were trucking to New York City along Hwy 17 when we happened upon a couple of older gentlemen with a flat tire on the side of the road. Two semis' stopped, we changed the flat for them and they tried to shove 50 bux into my hand for it. I turned it down and told them to put it towards some better tires. We got into our trucks and left. Our cost was about 30 minutes, but if the old guys changed it (those lug nuts were some tight) and I found out they took a heart attack I would never forgive myself. So now if it is safe to do so, I will help anybody.

Oil lasted longer than Chloride though and once it got packed down you could lay rubber on that dirt road.

I was born and raised in CA. Not in the city per se but in towns/suburbs. Never could stand cities and the more time I spent in adulthood I fit in less and less in a suburban environment.

Moved to VT in 2013 and felt immediately at home.

Its always a culture shock when I have CA friends out to visit. One noticed me waving at or returning a wave to everyone we passed on the dirt roads. He's like "you know all those people?". Me: nah, thats just what we do around here

You can lay a strip or two on a road with chloride on it as well after it has soaked in . Lets say the chloride was sprayed on a sunny day in May and the road was damp when it was sprayed, then around August you could lay a strip. I have seen Chloride sprayed last season still on the road at spring the next year even after a winter of snows.

Reading people is like reading posts on a forum. Don't read something into it thats not there. Maybe people are shy. Maybe indifferent, maybe snobs, maybe azzholes, you just don't know.
Maybe they're in witness protection
