Snow Attachments snow blower?

The first year I had my blower I vowed the tractor would not leave the garage again without a cab. I liked the cab so much on my 4210 I bought one for my 455 garden tractor which has the 47" blower on it. Not to spin this in a different direction but if your driveway is flat, my 455 with the 47" and a set of chains on the back will go through the same snow my 4210 will. You can probably find a used 455 with a blower for the cost of blower for a CUT....

Actually Erskine has come out with a pto wet kit that mounts on your 3pt hitch so the folks that need to keep their fel on for other winter uses can now use a skidsteer hydraulic blower on the fel.

Prices are in the range of the front mount pto blowers and the wet kits available for a few different hp ranges and will support several of the models of hyd blowers.

Is the front mount hydraulic blower a quick attach unit?

You know when I had a rear mounted snow blower It would blow snow just great! I could make paths across the back lower 40 for the dogs to do there duty. But after having it a few years I really hated looking backwards or cranking my neck around, and always going in reverse. Then I purchased my new tractor with a front mounted snow blower. WOW! It could and did blow the snow almost twice as far as my rear mounted blower. Only thing is when it's on, no FEL. Yeah I could remove blower and install FEL---but?? Front mounted snow blower was best for me.Hope this helps, good luck with your decision.

I had heard that the loader could be installed with the Kubota quick hitch still mounted to the tractor. Is this not true? I am debating this issue for my B2620, and also looking at garden tractors with blowers as another member suggested.

pilot-werx, does your 455 climb modest hills well? I expect that an X728 should, but wonder a bit more about the 2wd models like my older Simplicity though it does weigh a 1000 lbs, or so, and has a limited slip differential. My B2620 is going to need chains on the R-4's if I decide on going that route. I did have a bit of trouble with it last winter if the little rises were slick.

Here's my $0.02:

I bought a rear mount blower 2 seasons ago for the following reasons:

- Cheap: Found a used Farm King 50" blower for about $700. Just about the right width for my 2320, which is just under 48" wide. New they listed around $1500 or so if I remember right. I had priced a front blower from Deere. By the time you get the front hitch, front PTO kit, and the blower, it was well over $3000.

- Leaves the FEL on: Usually I don't get out to clear the driveway until after work, after the plows have pushed a large pile across the end of the driveway. Often, that pile is packed hard, had salt in it and turns to about 1/3 ice by the time I get there. Blowers don't do a very good job of cutting through that stuff. With the rear blower, I can blow out to the road, turn around and dig out the end drift/pile, then carry on with the blowing. I can also use the FEL to scrape concrete, back drag snow from up against garage doors, etc... Basically gives me a mult-tool for snow removal.

If you don't often need to use your FEL while removing snow, then the front mount is definitely a winner from a comfort standpoint, but all the factors need to be considered for your situation...

But----- you also have to remove mid pto shaft, just to be cautious that nothing will be bent or hit using the loader. The quick hitch that remains on tractor has a spline shaft that I would not want to take a chance on dinging.

1) Conventional front blowers. Run off mid-pto for typical factory models and off rear pto with driveshaft for most aftermarket units. Have to remove FEL and have limited upwards travel.

2) Erskine and now Deere, and I believe a few others who make skid-steer hydraulic blowers have systems running a PTO pump (Deere call it a Power Pack) at the rear to a hydraulic loader mounted blower. Easy to remove blower and can lift it high in the air if you want. Big $$$.

You might be able to have the quick hitch on the B2620, but not on the B3030. If you look at the picture below you see the push bar with the black rectangular piece of flat steel with six holes in it. The quick attach unit for the snowblower mounts on that. That steel plate is, horizontally about 3 inches from the big crossover pipe on the loader, which means when the snowblower quick hitch is on the tractor, you could not lower the loader all the way down without the crossover pipe hitting the quick hitch. As you know, you often need the loader all of the way down.

Although both could be on the unit simultaneously, your loader wouldn't be very functional.

To me it looks like the 2620 loader and snowblower setup works just like the B3030.

Good explanation. I have the factory model coming. Now I'm learning about the QA with the power pack. I'm having the dealer price it out. I'll chime in again when I get the numbers.

Hydraulic blowers are in the $4700 to $5500 range depending on model (std flow or hi flow) and the power pack is in the $3000 range available is 15 , 20 and 24 gpm.
If you have a 15 gpm or larger pto pump and suitable reservoir/cooler you shoud be able to make that work.
The hydraulic blower could be removed in a minute and put back on in two, or used on a skidsteer if you have one, provided the flow ranges are relatively close. Of course skidsteers also run pressures in the 3000 psi range, so the closer you can get to this the better it will perform. The pto shaft driven blowers will have more brute hp as you have all the engine available, but the hydraulic driven ones won't be breaking shear pins.
Otherwise it is the best of both worlds for a price simular to the front mount pto.

Yes you can, but its hard to compare something new against a machine with 3500 hours on it. The $1000 no resevere starting price indicates it. The owner wants it gone.

Also the hydraulic power pack could be used to run other atachments to, like a log splitter, brush cutter, post hole digger. And of course used hydraulic blowers can be had for less then new, and skilled members could build their own power pack too
