Nice looking dog, but he is missing a leg? Did you run him over with that tractor y'all got??? Friend had a 3 legged dog called Rabbitt.... that was because he would hop rather than run. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Did you get dirty shoveling a little snow ?? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
I would just step on the gas and plow through the snow and get to work,I would call my wife and tell her she or my son needs to get the snow shovel and go down to the end of the driveway and finish the job. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I sweat a lot - especially when it comes to shovelling! I have a cushy office job that requires minimal b.o. if you want anyone to talk to you while getting coffee in the morning.

After reading these posts about the unfavorable actions of the snow removal specialists taking care of your roads I have to say this. I live on a narrow dirt road which the town has to plow with a grader.

I will push the snow banks back in front of the house so the letter carrier can get to the mail box. Because the road is narrow in front of the house I will also push the snow banks back on the other side of the road.

On more than one occasion the snow removal specialist has angled the plow away from my driveway if I have it cleaned before he comes by. The road is a dead ender in the winter months so he gets the other side on the way back which has no driveways for a long way.

There are some good snow plow drivers out there or at least around here.

The plow driver used to be the bane of my winter existence, but this year I noticed he bow hunted whitetail and offered to let him hunt my 155 acres. Now the entrance to my driveway is never blocked, and half mile down the road he carefully plows around my mailbox! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Obviously some truth to the "kill em with kindness" maxim.

As I was a driver by trade for 30 years I have no quarrel with the plow drivers who deposit snow at the end of my drive, as it's considered part of the right of way.

Back when I moved to my country place, in '89, one of the first things I did was put up a new treated post and mailbox. The first big snowfall we had that winter, the grader who comes by after the truck plows clipped my new post and cracked it almost in half. I took a picture of the mailbox and had it enlarged to an 8X10, then painted a red circle with a slash atop my mailbox picture, the universal "NO" symbol.

Sent it to the county road commission foreman, with a note saying they got one free hit, but the next time it happened I expected them to replace my damaged property. Here it is 14 years later and they have never touched my mailbox since. Maybe they put my photo up on the board there?

Well.......... that day has finally arrived... the plow driver hasn't been down the road on the last two small snow delivery's that we had this past week. Guess that the wife ticked him off for the last time. He left a snow shovel at the front door. Don't think that she has gotten the hint yet. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Yesterday she went off the road and drove across the lawn at the corner. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
