As I was a driver by trade for 30 years I have no quarrel with the plow drivers who deposit snow at the end of my drive, as it's considered part of the right of way.
Back when I moved to my country place, in '89, one of the first things I did was put up a new treated post and mailbox. The first big snowfall we had that winter, the grader who comes by after the truck plows clipped my new post and cracked it almost in half. I took a picture of the mailbox and had it enlarged to an 8X10, then painted a red circle with a slash atop my mailbox picture, the universal "NO" symbol.
Sent it to the county road commission foreman, with a note saying they got one free hit, but the next time it happened I expected them to replace my damaged property. Here it is 14 years later and they have never touched my mailbox since. Maybe they put my photo up on the board there?
