I'm working on a loader mounted snow blade for my 4115.I've got the part made to replace the bucket now I'm looking at 2 blades. One is a 6ft. Meyers and the other is a 5ft. off an ATV.Looking for advice here on which one to use.Is the 6ft. too heavy or the 5ft. too light? The part I made to mount the blade to weighs about 100 lbs and I think the loader is rated at about 800Lbs.Any advice from someone who has done this would be greatly appreciated.

I think this is obvious, but I'll post it anyway.

Weigh the blade and any framing, hydraulic cylinders, etc., and do the math to see if you're under the weight limit of your loader or not and, if you're not, if you're over by a percentage with which you're comfortable.

Good luck with your project. I hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Curtis makes blades similar to Meyers for loader arm mounting and the whole ensemble- blade, mount (power angle) and all weighs 495 pounds, so I don't see how you could be anywhere near the capacity of your loader if you go that route.
I have one for my B2410 and it's a handful to push. Also, it doesn't float quite the same way as it would on a truck, so the skid shoes required many more shims on one side.

That "handfull to push" was what I was wondering about.I know the blade and mount is under the weight limit but when you add a blade full of wet snow.I plan to let whichever blade I use pivot at the bottom of the mount and use the loader curl and dump to raise and lower the blade. Is that basically how the Curtis blade works?

If I were doing it I'd keep the loader lift hydraulics the same as they are and use my loader arms to raise and lower the blade. I'd use the bucket tilt hydraulics to angle the blade left and right. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was thinking by doing it the way I planned it would float just like it was designed to and I wouldn't have to constantly adjust to keep it from digging in or lifting the front of the tractor.

I have a Curtis mounted on my Kubota B2910.
Using float dose not work very well. When properly counterweighted it will push more snow than would be thought possible. After you use the blade awhile you will find a technique that allows you to remove snow down to bare ground without using float.
Attached is a picture of the blade mounted on my tractor.
I left the FEL cylinders and hydraulic lines in their original place and added a valve to run blade angle.

This is how mine is set up to work. I use the bucket tilt hydraulics to angle the blade. Once I have the vertical set on the blade as I want it, I disconnect the lines and attach them to the blade. Had no problems with the tilt changing as I used it.
The float is somewhat touchy to use, but that is how you have to plow to be certain you can deal with unevenness in the driveway/road. In some cases, I had to hold it in float mode!!

I imagine they're somewhere in OH now. A full day of 40 mph winds with gusts to 48 mph will do that. I was up north of Harlan helping with some ditch and dike work. THAT equipment wasn't likely to get blown around too much (see attached) but driving home had my Tahoe all over the road.
