Came home from work today to a foot of snow in the driveway. It was my first chance to use it ('08 2415HST) to plow this year. I will say that I was more than impressed with all it could do. I do have a few questions...........my driveway is blacktop, I put the FEL bucket level and in the float position. There were a few times I left a few lite scrapes. What I am wondering is if there is something I might attach to the bucket edge, or do I just need to work with the angle of the bucket better?..............also, I did most of the work in 4WD with the engine rpms around 1800, when I was off the tractor I would idle it down. Sound right?

Thanks
Meade

That is how I did mine today, only I angled the bucket and my drive is gravel. I'll probably be cussing myself this spring with some of the rocks in the yard but I'll get better with time ( or my mower will have lots of new blades):D

For a short and wide driveway, an FEL is probably pretty effective. Until you get accustomed to using it, set the FEL and get off the tractor to evaluate the angle. For blacktop, the back of the FEL bucket should be on the blacktop, and the front lip should probably be 1/2 to 1-inch above the blacktop.

I guess it depends on the length of your driveway. Except for my Navy years in the late-60s / early-70s, I don't think I ever lived where I've had less than about a half-mile of driveway. I've nearly always used a rear blade to clear snow. If the snow is less than about six inches, you can easily drive forward, pushing the snow well off to the side with a six or seven foot rear blade. Once the snow gets deeper, you may have to drive backward, but with a 2615, you should easily be able to handle 15-18 inches without a problem.

I do keep a walk-behind snow blower with chains for the occasions when the snow gets well over 24 inches. Two passes makes enough of a path to get the tractor through.

Its snowing here right now. Tomorrow morning will be my first real snow removal with my 2415. Tonight I'll be like a kid on Christmas Eve. I don't care if the whole driveway ends up in the yard- It will be worth the fun!:D:D

Meade,
I was at a Mahindra service school this past weekend and one of the dealers there was telling about a composit cutting edge which he sells for use on the blacktop. I will do some checking to see if I can get some imfo on it for you.

I would also be interested in something like this for my 2015HST, which does a pretty good job on my uneven driveway but gouges a little in the gravel path.
