Snowblower on 25HP non-hydrostatic

   / Snowblower on 25HP non-hydrostatic #31
So here is what I am asking for help with. We live in Upstate NY on the corner of Mass and VT and have some elevation. We average 80-100" of snow some years and have a gravel driveway 800+/- feet long. For 25 years I have plowed with trucks or tractors with front blades and or back blades. I would like to sell my 2001 Tundra plow truck but cannot put a front mounted snowblower on my JD790 and cannot imagine driving backwards with a rear 3PT snowblower. So I am considering a small Kubota B1700 or similar with a front mount snowblower which also has a 3 pt hitch I could put a 4 FT scraper blade on as well. Using the plow truck and the scraper blade alone always leave a mess in the Spring but can you share your experiences with front mount snow blower on a small 4WD tractor? I work from home so dont have to worry about getting out in a hurry in the am
Thanks in advance

Jack
you actually CAN mount a front snowblower on the JD790, JD makes it, and I see it listed for sale here.. John Deere 59" Front Mount Snow Blower

yes but you need a mid pto and the quick hitch adaptor

yes you do, unless you want to run a long driveshaft from the front of the tractor to the rear pto which I have seen done. I had a mid pto installed on my Kioti for the purpose of running a front mount snowblower. Love it best investment ever.

A lot of the forum members have small mules with lanes driveways and access roads much longer than yours.
They use the BX size kubotas with rear mount snow throwers and simply sit side saddle and use a wider snow blower making a slow first pass and half cuts for the remaining passes.

The 48 inch Riest single stage snow throwers are something you should think about as they are or were $4000.00 canadian dollars a while back for a standard equipped snow thrower.

Even a good used BX would be plenty for the Riest single stage unit and they can be used on the front with a Riest mounting kit to use the mid PTO. The Mid PTO just uses more fuel than the rear mounting would.

See my post #29 photo of a BX22 Kubota with a front mounted blower driven from the rear pto.

This is what things look lke on the rear of the reactor.

Hello Dave7040,

Is that an Erskine drive system on the Kubota or someone elses?

My other question is is the loader underframe needed and is there a system made for the BX1870-80 or the JD series 1 mules.

Thanks much,

Leon

That is exactly what I was talking about. What an abortion looking system. You have to take that off every spring. That is why I opt to a mid pto cheaper and faster to hook drive shaft to blower.

it seems to me that someone could just mount a hydraulic motor up to the PTO input of the snowblower, and just run the 2 lines to the tractor.. surpluscenter has good hydraulic motors for a good price.. or get something like this.. which btw, uses all hydraulic motors for the wheels, and the blower.. The problem with that is that by the time you invest in a hydraulic power pack with a gear pump that is powered by the rear PTO shaft your looking at more money than the cost of the tractor.

The hydraulic systems on the small mules and the larger ones are not large enough in gallons capacity per minute to run a hydraulic driven snow blower.
