I always worry about the shadows around the bucket and loader arms- Too many years underground with HID light and sensitive eyeballs

I know what you mean. I worked in the Iron Ore industry for years on equipment.(open pit) and lighting was a big problem. That being said the lights on the Bota are pretty good but you can never have enough lighting. Thanks!

The Mercury vapors are fine up to a point- I used to develop a tremor when I was around them at times.

SO I take it you spent a lot of time around P+H shovels and drills?


I am trying to interest the folks at Baffin Island to install an improved
methodology to transport Iron Ore from the pit to the port with out using hopper cars.

Yep P&H were the big ones. I spent a good bit of time on a 988 and 992 Cat loader. 35 and 50 ton trucks, graders and scrappers. The ore was transported from the mine via ATO ( Automatic Train Operation). It was dumped into a crusher and put in the ore storage where it would be sent to the mill turned into concentrate and then some of the concentrate would be sent over to the pellet plant to be turned in pellets.
That's the only system I've ever seen. Thanks for the link. I'm heading over to check it out.

Sorry, no action pictures. Since I am usually alone while blowing snow. But here is my set up. Living in MN this comes in handy. I no longer dislike clearing snow from the driveway. In fact, I kind of look forward to it.
