I had this same idea some sort of quick attach / detach system for my BX 1500. I don't have a welder just yet but, I'd be very interested in seeing how this turns out. I would like to adapt a set of forks for my tractor without the weight of the bucket loading it down, as in clamp on style. I hope we get to see some pictures when this is done...bx24 said:I like the paynesforks model asylum posted. I am facing the same issue with mine but I am taking the plunge and going to town with a plasma cutter and welder to turn my FEL bucket into a quick release bucket. Once completed, the next two projects are to fabricate a set of forks and customize a 6.5 meyer plow to fit the new quick connect setup.
For the plow, I am him-hawing back and forth whether or not I should cut down the plow so it is only 5 or 5.5 ft wide instead of 6.5. I would not be able to plow effectively with the full width with deeper snow, but in IN we only get one or two big snows a year and if I plowed multiple times, the extra width would help get things done faster for smaller storms.
For the forks, I hope to save a bunch of weight and thereby increase the forks lifting capacity if I don't have to lift the bucket as well as the forks.
The problem with this deal is with my luck I would always have the wrong thing on the loader arms.Jabroni said:FWIW, Curtis is coming out with a plow blade that will attach directly to the loader arms of a BX. It's suppose to go on sale in early December. I'm guessing it won't be cheap.
THat looks like a great idea!! WOULD a frozen icey banking break it or do you use float on the stick?bigdad said:If I were to do my setup again, I wouldn't put an angle on the wooden "blade". Just straight. Normally I pull the snow away from the garages/outbuildings with an RB angled then just use the FEL pusher to do LIGHT cleanup of what's left. My kids call it Dad's "Snow-Dozer".
I used wood to keep it light, cheap and also to minimze surface abrasion. This will be the third winter, hopefully with no problems. The stuborn stuff gets the RB.

I don't have an issue of bucket weight with my clamp ons for the BX23.Barryh said:I had this same idea some sort of quick attach / detach system for my BX 1500. I don't have a welder just yet but, I'd be very interested in seeing how this turns out.

1*My Paynes bucket forks for my BX23 are great.bxowner said:1*As for the PaynesForks, at least the price includes shipping!
2*I've been budgeting $1000 for a used Kubota plow kit for my BX1500 if one came along. Rare indeed.
